I am a lecturer in the school of Education and Professional Studies of Griffith University on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia where I research into cognition, professional learning and expertise, and all aspects of educational technologies – with a current focus on 1:1 computing, mLearning, serious games, augmented reality, virtual environments and neural interfaces. In my spare time I prepare potential teachers, masters and PhD students to cope with 21.12C Education.
I have 15 years experience in K-12 ICT education and have been the recipient of the Queensland Computer Educator of the Year and Outstanding National Achievement by a Teacher awards. I am also an Apple Distinguished Educator, Google Certified Teacher, the Australian HP Innovations in Education Mentor, president of the Australian College of Educators (Gold Coast Region), past president of the Queensland Society for Information Technology in Education and board of the Australian Council for Computers in Education.
I enjoy travel, camping, reading, astronomy and gaming. I have 20 years service in the Australian Army Intelligence Corp, am married to Debbie, and have a Japanese Spitz puppy named Edelweiss.
