I think I am going to start a new thing, and I want to call it #friendlyfriday
. I would like to encourage you all to take part.
The idea is simple: every Friday I want to ask you all to write a nice post about someone who you respect who is not related to your current project or employer. Just share why you respect them, and be sure to tag them. Hopefully this can balance out the fighting in-between projects and companies a little. Remember to tag your post with with #friendlyfriday
I will start (obviously, as I just had the idea).
I have tremendous respect for +Matthew Garrett
, both as a friend and as a contributor to Linux. Matthew has a long history of contributions to Linux, provided a steady hand in guiding us through all the SecureBoot changes, and he has demonstrated a pretty unrelenting commitment to Open Source. But, why I like him is also because he is just a normal guy - I can go and have dinner and drinks with him and he is always fun to hang out with and really understands the pressures involved in working in Open Source. We need more people like Matthew in our community.
