The Right Place for Your Calling

Where you are right now is where you need to be in order to live out your calling.

It may not feel like it.
You may not understand it.
It may seem like it’s the exact opposite place you should be in order to fulfill God’s call on your life.

Just give it time.

Trusting God's Plan

And in a moment of complete and utter frustration, I remember yelling “God, why?!”

I would like to say I received an answer. That there was some deep lesson He was trying to teach me. Or that by making it happen this weekend, He was sparing me from going through this on a weekend I would have bigger plans.

All I got was a simple phrase. I know the plans I have for you.

Trusting God’s plan means believing everything that happens in life has a purpose.

Use Evernote for Your To-Do List [Includes FREE Reference Checklist Download]

For years, I’ve tried to find some kind of program or app or system that would help me stay on top of my daily and weekly to-do lists, to no avail.

The To-Do list programs I found were either too complicated (I don’t have time to categorize, set start times and deadlines, assign it to a project) or couldn’t be used on all the essential platforms I needed (MacBook, iPhone, iPad, Windows PC).

I need something as simple to use as writing tasks on a piece of paper, but convenient enough to access it wherever I am. I mean, what if I’m in the bathroom and remember I have something I need to get done?

Simple and accessible everywhere. The solution I’ve found: Evernote.

10 Disciplines of a Godly Man

Jesus was a man of discipline — He did what was right and what was best even if it wasn’t popular, desired, or fun. He made time every morning to communicate with the Father. He gave to God what was God’s. He saw the best in people even when they couldn’t see it themselves. He was a man of discipline.

Men who model their lives after Christ, and make every effort to live in tune with scripture, implement these ten disciplines into their lives.

On Church Buildings, the Homeless, and Being Like Jesus

Your church’s building does not exist for your church. It isn’t there to help you carry out the vision of your church’s ministry. It wasn’t given just to keep your church body comfortable on Sunday, nor provide an inviting place for those seeking Christ.

The building does not belong to the local church and its vision. It belongs to Christ and His mission.

Most times, the two are intertwined. Seeing the lost begin to find healing and hope in Christ is God’s mission.

But there are other times when the two are far removed from one another. When the homeless are shunned at our doors. When the broken feel they aren’t welcomed on our property. When the church is too absorbed with its own mission, ministry, and goals to be of real need to a dying and broken world.

It’s in those times, we forget who truly owns our buildings — and why they were given.

How is your church using God’s building to bring real transformation to the poor, broken, and homeless? Leave a comment below.

Fulfilling the Promise

God rarely fulfills His promises in our time-frame, but He always keeps His promises.

It may take a few months.
It may take a few years.
It may take a few decades.
It may not even be fulfilled in your lifetime.

But God always keeps His promises.

We just need to hold on long enough to see them come to pass.

#Superman  art. Awesome.

I found this print in an art gallery in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. For some reasons it mesmerized me. Anyone else think it's cool?

On God's Power, the Prosperity Gospel, and Swinging the Pendulum

In an effort to avoid the fallacies of the prosperity gospel, we have limited our view of God’s power.

Does God always heal, miraculously provide, and answer every prayer after the first time it’s been uttered? Of course not.

We all know that following Christ doesn’t mean our lives are magically better overnight, or that we will become millionaires and drive around in Cadillacs because God wants us to be rich.

But it doesn’t mean God won’t do that, either.

Trying to Find Life Among the Dead

Don’t fall into the belief that life can be found among the dead — that hope and peace and joy and fulfillment and worth and meaning and belonging will be discovered the tomb of possessions, wealth, success, and dream relationships.

Life is only found in one place.
And He is no longer in the tomb.
