May have been the losing side, still not convinced it was the wrong one.

6 hours in with a mix of Stubbs Hardwood Briquettes and Royal Oak lump.  Blend of peach, nectarine and plum wood for smoke.  Smelling nice and porky.

Brown sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic, paprika, california pepper, cayenne, coriander and powdered mustard in the rub.

Great little gem tucked away in the San Marcos foothills, San Elijo Park has a variety of sports fields, a dog park and horseshoe pits. The smaller upper park has a kids' playground and multiple picnic benches, as well as covered seating areas. Get some picnic goodies at the nearby Albertson's, or a slice of pizza from Hendo's Local and enjoy the lovely view with friends, family or a significant other.

An excellent thin crust NY pie, one of the best I've found in North County. Friendly staff is always helpful and eager to please. Small seating area with televisions for catching your favorite sporting event with a beer and a slice. Great garlic knots - and the stuffed meat pie is a must for any carnivore.

Family run for over 2 decades, Frogy's is the place to go for quality, tasty donuts. Get in early, and get them fresh and warm. While the kid loves the sprinkles, the Chocolate Twists, Buttermilks and Maple Bars are favorites with everyone that we've introduced them to. Wonderful baked goods served with a smile, every time!

Garcia's provides an excellent assortment of traditional Mexican restaurant fare at reasonable prices. Plate values are a bit high, but the quantity and quality of food match the pricing well. You will be taking home leftovers! The Nachos Famosos are a great appetizer for a big party, or with some added meat an easy dinner for 2 or 3. The Chile Relleno is one of the best items on the menu, and the in house salsa is excellent. Never had any problems splitting one of their large fajita plates with the wife, either. Garcia's has changed dramatically from the little hole in the wall that it used to be, but has brought that small restaurant's excellent food and family feel with it as it has grown.

Have never been disappointed with the food on any visits, although the wait staff can get stretched thin during busy times. As a general rule, however, they are friendly, attentive and polite. The AYCE menu is extensive, and the sushi very good (not excellent) quality. At $24 for dinner and weekend service, it's an excellent value. They have, unfortunately, removed the children's AYCE pricing structure from their menu. Family favorites include the Spicy Baja roll, jalapeno roll, garlic albacore roll (5 Star!) and the Ono nigiri. Have never had anyone do anything but rave about Hon when we've taken friends there.
