4 oz piled on the bread with homemade chipotle mayo and spicy mustard. Havarti, green lettuce, and candied jalapeños to finish.

Fine china and all.

One of the many St Paddy's day discount corned beefs I picked up last month. Soaked in clean water for a day and rubbed with coriander, mustard seed, garlic, paprika and a pinch of cloves. 12 hours at ~250 = pastrami time.

For #foodfriday , some of the bounty of our garden. The beets were roasted - some for salad, some for pickling. Carrots were roasted as well for salad.

Roasted beets and carrots are chopped, dressed with a lime-cumin dressing, and tossed with chopped cilantro. Best if it sits for a day or two to meld the flavors.

Wow, I'd love to try pickled beets.  The lime cumin dressing sounds delicious.  :)

Family run for over 2 decades, Frogy's is the place to go for quality, tasty donuts. Get in early, and get them fresh and warm. While the kid loves the sprinkles, the Chocolate Twists, Buttermilks and Maple Bars are favorites with everyone that we've introduced them to. Wonderful baked goods served with a smile, every time!

The server's shirt said something about taste being king, but unfortunately, the only taste on my plate was sugar. I ordered the 2 meat platter, brisket and pulled pork, with a side of coleslaw. I mistakenly forgot to request the sauce on the side - mea culpa. The pulled pork was very smoky, and lightly brown, almost as though the meat had been cooked, pulled and then re-introduced to the smoke a second time. Not traditional, but not bad. Relatively moist, it was the best part of the meal. The brisket was tender and decently moist, but had no visible smoke ring and no bark. Maybe a trimming issue, but if that's the case, they're taking a lot of flavor away. The slices were of varying thickness, and the two thickest were too thick, leaving even tender brisket in too large strands in the mouth. The sauce was sugary, cloying and overwhelming, and unfortunately, covering 60-70% of the meat. I appreciate the need for some sweetness in a BBQ sauce, but it needs some kind of counterpoint of peppery heat, vinegar bite, something. This was like buffet sweet and sour sauce - red, sweet, and nothing else. The cornbread was a sweet northern style corn bread/cake - something I typically enjoy, but after the sauce, it was just too much. The slaw was the only thing not sweet on the plate - it wasn't sweet or savory, or much of anything, really. Packaged cabbage mix tossed with an abundance of bland, tasteless sauce. No vinegar tang, no mayonnaise richness, no anything - just white and liquid. At nearly $20 for a 2 meat plate and a small drink, the meal was underwhelming, terribly over sweetened, and highly disappointing.

Garcia's provides an excellent assortment of traditional Mexican restaurant fare at reasonable prices. Plate values are a bit high, but the quantity and quality of food match the pricing well. You will be taking home leftovers! The Nachos Famosos are a great appetizer for a big party, or with some added meat an easy dinner for 2 or 3. The Chile Relleno is one of the best items on the menu, and the in house salsa is excellent. Never had any problems splitting one of their large fajita plates with the wife, either. Garcia's has changed dramatically from the little hole in the wall that it used to be, but has brought that small restaurant's excellent food and family feel with it as it has grown.

Tom and crew are always on top of things - reliable service at solid prices. Never recommending services that you don't need, Autotyme is a great service to do business with.

Top quality spices at reasonable prices. Their spice and herb blends are especially good. Watch the Peri-peri, it'll get in your nose, for sure! Very friendly and helpful staff, although it would be nice to see the store follow suit with other Penzey's retail locations and include containers of ground coffee to help clear the nose.
