Valve is now going to allow developers to ban people from games via Steam itself. The way the article reads, a developer can say "ban this user" and that user will be locked out of the game on Steam itself. Not sure how I feel about this.
In a move that’s bound to yield some very interesting results, Valve just announced that it was changing the way it administers bans on its ridiculously popular gaming service Steam. Rather than adjudicating the entire process on its own, the company is effectively handing over power to individual game developers.

"This latter image, consisting of a region of space barely a thousandth of a square degree on the sky – so small it would take thirty-two-million of them to fill the entire sky — contains a whopping 5,500 galaxies, the most distant of which have had their light traveling towards us for some 13 billion years, or more than 90% the present age of the Universe. Extrapolating this over the entire sky, we find that there are 170 billion galaxies in the observable Universe, and that’s just a lower limit."

Thanks for 25 years of awesome, Hubble, and for teaching us some amazing things about the Universe, including our best estimate ever of how many galaxies are in it!
VideoAs the Hubble Space Telescope celebrates its 25th anniversary, it's easy to take for granted all we've learned thanks to its incredible discoveries. But don't forget that when it was first launched, the spherical aberration in the primary mirror caused all the images it was returning to be blurry and [...]

To flare or not to flare: The riddle of galactic thin to thick disk solved

A long-standing puzzle regarding the nature of disk galaxies has finally been solved, the new study shows that groups of stars with the same age always flare as the result of massive galactic collisions. When taken all together, these flares, nested like the petals of a blooming rose, puff up the disk and constitute what astronomers call the “thick” disk.

Introduction
I'm a contract developer, focusing mostly on Flash AS3 development for a number of ad agencies in Toronto.

Over the years, developing all types of projects for small and large companies alike, I realized the similar requirements between them and slowly built a set of classes that I could reuse from project to project.

Through my experiences in this industry, I've built my own open-source Flash framework called Redblox to help me build projects in Flash in a fraction of the time.
