Almost two years since I took this photo at the +Olympics +London 2012! Where has the time gone?! Who's excited for +Rio 2016? I'd like to get out to Brazil if I can. Olympics in the sun, first ever games in South America, very exciting.

Happy New Year!

Hope you have a prosperous one. For #ActionMonday fans I'll update the page shortly and with an information post as I realise I've done a poor job keeping on top of it (and Adrian I assume too busy for it now). For everyone, enjoy 2014!

Remember, remember, the fifth of November, Gunpowder Treason and Plot

5th November is Guy Fawkes Night (aka Bonfire Night/Fireworks Night) here in the UK. I went to Guildford with some friends, started with an interested torch-lit walk up to Stoke Park.

You might recognise this one from the Sony Xperia Z adverts earlier in the year, perfect song for a Thursday evening when busy working!

Not sure how I missed this back in January, but cracking photo by Chris!
Arctic Tern

One of several Arctic terns that were dotted along the shoreline at Longyearbyen. This photo was taken about an hour earlier from, and very nearby to, my previous post.

Would be amazing, I hope so! Funny how alien they make it sound, but as you say, great to have mainstream attention. Roll on Sochi!

Tasty! I was recommended the Chicken Dupiaza, a dish Surrey Tandoori clearly does very well. They are only too happy to satisfy my requests of adjusting the heat strength of certain dishes to meet the fussy requirements of some of my friends! Rice, breads and sundries are all equally tasty, not at all greasy (a criticism I often have of others), delivered promptly and thoroughly enjoyed. They are proud of their 5 star hygiene rating too, as they should be, gives great confidence in the food. If you live in the area, well worth a meal!

Nothing to shout about. The food is good but not great (unlike some other Indian Restaurants in the area), the restaurant is small and cramped. On the upside the service is good and the costs are moderate.

The BEST Indian cuisine in the area. I make a point of trying new places, I have regularly visited a different Indian restaurant in Surrey/Hampshire for 5 years now. The Ancient Raj is the best by some margin. The flavours and spices are perfect, portions great, staff are very warm & friendly and the restaurant is large & relaxed. Also, there is a 10% discount for take-away orders, 15% if you place online. It's now my regular take-away between restaurant adventures. It's not cheap, but you get what you for.

For a three star hotel, it's very decent indeed. The staff are polite and friendly, the rooms and clean and comfortable, the breakfast is typical continental style, tasty too. I spent nearly a week here while working in the area and nothing to complain about - which is great!

Had a fantastic meal with my parents who recently moved to the area. As well as the typical dishes for the less adventurous, the menu is varied and terrific specials. I opted for the Naga Mirch Masala with Tandoori Chicken - I can honestly say it was the most moist and tender chicken I've had in an Indian dish. Wonderfully balanced spices and heat. The poppadoms are served with a onion chutney I've not found elsewhere - make sure you try it! The rice and breads are great too, the vegetable stuffed paratha was particularly full of flavour. Even the drinks brilliant, the fresh ginger beer is served with slices of real ginger - a nice touch! I look forward to many more meals here.

I stayed here in 2007 and still think back on the stay. Auxerre is a beautiful region of France, and this is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast. Friendly owners too.

Pistenklause should be a required stop for all of those visiting the Nürburgring. The décor is fantastic, motoring enthusiasts will love the vibe inside with much motorsport memorabilia. It's not cheap, but not overly expensive. The food is decent, the steaks on a hot stone are a popular choice and for good reason. I can recommend you have a meal there, though as often the case in this area, some of the cars parked nearby may bring out some serious envy!
