Very nice hotel with expansive open areas, excellent pool area and beach access. Plenty of restaurants on site, and you can take a short cab ride or even take the local bus to access less expensive restaurants in the more happening area just to the north. There are two convenient stores within a quarter mile walk from the front entrance for many common items like beer, orange juice, bottle water, coffee, etc. and even a McDonald's if you want to save some money.

Amazing beach, especially the section that wraps around the northern tip and spreads out to the east. Not a long walk from the ferry or a brief ride if you need to cab it. Lots of vendors selling coconuts, jewelry, weaving, trinkets, blankets and more. Rule of thumb seems to be around 50% of original asking price is where many vendors break away from negotiation. Plenty of shops, restaurants and bars nearby. We moved back and forth between the main public beach and some of the private areas around the corner that also had public accesses--found them both terrific.

We had a family wedding here so the food and drinks may have been different than usual and/or partially catered, but everything was terrific. The beach is fantastic, plus the sun sets over the water and low-laying land so it’s very much like watching a sunset over ocean alone. The shoreline is extraordinary for this strip of north beach that wraps around the upper northwest corner of the island with very calm shallows that extend a good ways out. Clear water, easy to see around with open eyes to identify things, which can be difficult in most oceans. Wonderful experience.

A terrific area with a bit gentler waves than we had further south on the Tulum beach stretch at our hotel. 50 pesos to rent a lounge chair but worth it if you’re spending several hours there. Otherwise towels on the sand would be fine. Can see some ruins from the beach at a distance. Plenty of options for snacks and drinks. We didn’t pay for the parking out front but probably were supposed to. They caught us on the way out and were nice enough not to make a fuss. I think there is free road parking on the beach side of the road within 100 yards or so.

Arguably the best fish tacos we had on our trip though they were breaded so not enjoyable for the gluten free types in our family. Really good breakfast all around and friendly staff, plus unique sauces like coconut-peanut on the chicken tacos. Yummy! Fairly small place so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Enjoyed it though by this time on our trip we were over the constant barrage of sales pitches, sort of tuned it out here. Would have been a good idea to pay for guided tour if really wanted to get the most from it. Easy walk (maybe a half mile) to the ruins from the parking area for those who want to save the bus fare. Good ruins to walk around but mostly roped off to keep intact. Enjoyed the short tunnels, some of the few spots you get to touch and imagine hands touching the same spots several hundred years back. There’s also a beach access right there if you bring the right clothes and want to refresh from the heat. Good wildlife too and entertainers, like the traditional pole swingers.

This was the only dinner restaurant we returned to in Tulum because we enjoyed it so much. Was referred here by two different locals--took that as a good sign. Typical Mexi options and really delicious shrimp and fish. Corn and flour tortillas super fresh and soft. Margaritas were good, not great, but that wasn’t our top priority. They even comped us a round of tequila shots before paying the bill, something I found very smart for helping with the tip and the likelihood of a return visit. Why don’t more restaurants do that?
