Intel report for #Ingress Portal Water Display.

This portal has been moved to an incorrect spot, for whatever reason an agent has put it a block away from it's original and true location. I have provided it's correct location in this post and it can be seen in Google Maps at this location. Please correct this error.

Thanks,
Kalkaline R15

Edit: I have also submitted a location change review through the scanner.

Darn smurfs making missions that benefit them.

"Ingress Missions challenge Agents to seek out sequences of culturally or aesthetically significant sites, called Waypoints. Along the way, a Mission may require real-world knowledge to decipher clues, guess passphrases and perform game actions."

…or it could be just a half-assed attempt by a smurf to get someone to smash an ENL farm for him.

So I woke up to this new brand of smurfery this morning (see attached photo).

If you aren't able to see the whole mission, this is 40 portals in sequence, each one with a portal field created off of it.

And if you don't know the area, this was created by a local smurf who harasses this area regularly, which is a standing E8 farm.

Setting aside how objectively terrible a mission is that requires this much pointless work, this is a cheap shot.

Because the area is always completely green-fielded, there is no way in the world an ENL agent could ever do this unless the whole area was burned to the ground. So only a smurf could finish the mission, and only then by smashing the entire area.

Also, given the nature of missions, there's basically no direct recourse for us. You can't report a mission and there's nothing that even says it would qualify for removal, even if it's clearly against the spirit of what missions are meant to be. There's nothing "culturally or aesthetically significant" that could be understood from this mission. It's sole purpose is to be spiteful to the enlightened who are in the area.

I have several suggestions to combat this nonsense that I would like to solicit for comments.

1.  Let's make some actual objectively-good missions in the same areas. Yes, it's a green farm and it could attract smurfs, but let's face it: that ship has sailed now. Mission should require some walking, have some passphrases, attempt to be educational, and shouldn't take more than 15-30 minutes. Most of all: no capturing, no fielding if it's in a green farm—hacking and passphrases only. This will encourage a thumbs-up from people who run the mission normally, regardless of faction.

2. Bad missions can still get a thumbs-down, even if you don't finish it. Everyone in the area should run the mission, go to the first portal, hack it, abort the mission, and say you didn't like it. We don't know quite how the approval is calculated precisely, but I've learned two things so far. First, not finishing a mission and saying you didn't like it DOES count towards the score. Second, the score won't show up until someone actually completes the mission. Since that may be a while, if everyone preemptively scores the mission poorly (because it is a poor mission, not because he's a smurf), then when someone finally finishes it, it will have a single-digit approval score, which will discourage others from attempting it.

3. The end net result that we hope for is this: multiple missions in the same area, one with a short time and a high approval and one with a long time and a very low approval. That is going to encourage people to do the mission we want that is high-quality, edifying and doesn't level our farms as often.

4. Finally, in areas where this hasn't happened yet, expect it to in the near future. I would suggest that we go ahead and preemptively create missions in places that are frequently farmed in order to get ahead of the smurf trolls. Good missions (i.e., variety of actions) get approved faster than bad missions (i.e., 40 hacks or 40 fields only). My hope is that crap missions will sink to the bottom over time and good missions will come through.

That's all my thoughts from this morning. I would appreciate yours as well.

+NIA Ops +Ingress +Joe Philley :
Today I make a special appeal on the behalf of my friend and teammate  +Mo Biscuits aka MoBiscuits in the scanner.  This may just look like any old grave marker, but people who visit Dallas seek this one out.  They leave shotgun shells and bottles of whiskey on the marker in the Western Heights Cemetery.  They find his wife's grave at a separate site north of Love Field at the Crown Hill Cemetery.  They trace the couple's footsteps through the city, finding their old haunts, hangouts, they find the banks they robbed, and the location of their ultimate demise. Clyde Barrow, husband of Bonnie Parker, rests here: "Gone but not forgotten"
Location: https://www.google.com/maps/@32.7658091,-96.8463755,21z in the South West Corner of the cemetary

Currently the DFW area has some really fantastic portal density centered in downtown and University park(surprisingly).  While intel and even IITC are great tools, the mission creator map seems to be showing every portal in a given area with great accuracy.  I know it seems like I've been beating a dead horse with the mission creator posts, but even if you never make a mission, you should definitely check out the map if you are 9+ and verified. https://mission-author-dot-betaspike.appspot.com/

#Ingress  server issues are getting really frustrating.  I don't know what has caused them, but every action in game is affected.  This really needs to be addressed soon and a long term solution put in place.  If there are things that can be done on the player side, please provide some insight so people who develop things like +IITC can make the game enjoyable for everyone.  I know you probably get minute by minute reminders and I appreciate all the hard work you guys do, so sorry for beating a dead horse.

ARG? I wouldn't mind trying another.

Welcome to the launch of our coverage of Enklave (a post apocalyptic ARG for android). In this article we take a look at the UI.
Interested in an alpha invite? Reshare this post, tag +Fev Games and hashtag #FevGamesEnklave  and at the end of the week we will random draw 10 users to receive alpha invites.
What is Enklave? Enklave is an Alpha stage ARG, an Augmented Reality Game, under development from the beginning of summer 2014. In the middle of September, about 1000 players got invited to a close...

I hope that game is like an ARG of the Fallout series!  I love Fallout!  If I play, I'll switch between the two games as I walk and maybe double my fun, lol.

Mecca is a great addition to the Lakewood area. They have nice thick bacon, not too crispy but not under-cooked either. Coffee is ok, about what you would expect from a diner. Pancakes are great, their club sandwich is great. Servers are friendly and keep your glass/mug from going empty. I haven't had a bad meal yet.
