When I saw this I experienced an acute case of "lost time" followed by an +Amazon.com order confirmation email. Go figure.

Best Buy is a good bet, especially if you have Gamers Club Unlocked (20% off). Buy BB gift cards at a supermarket with an Amex Blue cashback for another 6% off.

Periodically refresh the page to see if they restocked whatever edition you want.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Except for the part where you miss your stop because it's too damn comfy under the kotatsu and you really really don't want to get out.

Some notable pain points make seriously wonder if +Nest (and recent acquisition Dropcam) has a software QA team or any product managers who know what minimum viable product means.

OK recently they pushed a fix that allows "all other motion" to be unselected in the motion alerts. That fixes perhaps the main pain point.

Hacker Yifan Lu writes about how in 2012 he discovered an exploit of Playstation Mobile (based on the Mono Project) to run unsandboxed homebrew code on the PS Vita. It's an interesting read if you're a software security researcher or console hacker. I particularly like this part:

If Moonlight (and its security system) was designed for web browsers, then using it as an all purpose security tool could be problematic. The threat model that Moonlight defends against is not exactly the same as the threat model for PSM. Moonlight is used to keep the user safe from malicious developers. PSM is supposed to keep Sony safe from (I guess they would consider “malicious”) developers. How do these two goals compare? Well, both threat models need to prevent access to native system functions and both need managed code to be completely sandboxed. However, there’s no reason for Moonlight to be secure against the debugger, right? The purpose of the debugger is to “oversee” applications, so implicitly it would be considered privileged. Under the Moonlight threat model, if the attacker can invoke the debugger, they already have privileges to execute unmanaged native code. But in PSM’s threat model, the debugger cannot be privileged since the developer has access to it. That seems like a promising observation, but how can we use the debugger to our advantage? Well, let’s see what the Mono debugger can do.
The following was taken from a series of unpublished posts I wrote back in September 2012 (almost three years ago). The posts not only detail the exploit I

Holy shit. Of all the things I expected to happen at +PlayStation's E3 press conference, Yu Suzuki announcing Shenmue 3 as a PS4 console exclusive and then launching a Kickstarter campaign is basically like... the last possible thing I could image.

I mean, I don't even know what to say. We've waited fourteen fucking years for this. And, as a PS4 console exclusive? If you recall the original games were expensive Dreamcast exclusives that launched the sandbox game genre. After lackluster sales, the funding never materialized to properly conclude Ryo Hazuki's story. He's been living in limbo ever since.

Christ. I modded my Dreamcast, bought the EU imports and manually ran a savegame region converter just to play Shenmue 2.

Enough chit chat, get thyself over to Kickstarter ASAPs.

So good. I mean, sure the freaky ████ and all the ██████████ scenes were pretty cray, but you know, so good.

Service is slow, environment is kind of dingy, and the food is arguably overpriced, but this is still one of the best if not the best smoked bbq in the sfbay. Edit: Unfortunately, Uncle Franks BBQ has closed down. :(

Not the freshest tasting beans or the cleanest coffeehouse in the area, but it's open to midnight on weekends and is conveniently located. Edit: With the ownership change in 2013, Bay Street is a lot cleaner and more welcoming.

I tend to agree with those who say FGB is somewhat overrated. FGB's main draw for me is the extent of customizability.

Service seems kind of hit-or-miss, but the quality of the bbq is good. Definitely another one of Fremont's "hidden gems". Edit: Unfortunately, the owner decided to retire in August 2012. This establishment is no longer open.
