How were cities distributed globally in the past? How many people lived in these cities? How did cities influence their local and regional environments? In order to understand the current era of urbanization, we must understand long-term historical urbanization trends and patterns. However, to date there is no comprehensive record of spatially explicit, historic, city-level population data at the global scale. Here, we developed the first s...

I was invited to attend the Round Table on Data Quality in Open Data held at the White House in Washington, D.C. on April 27th, 2016. The round table was the second in a series of four meetings around the open data initiative sponsored by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) and the Center for Open Data Enterprise. This round table was intended to bring together experts to advise the White House Office of Science and Technology on how best to address data quality.
Jason Hare writes about his experience at the 2nd White House Round Table on Data Quality, which took place on April 27th. Check out what he has to say!

Contrary to the hopes of government watchdogs, the Executive Branch has not revealed its ground rules of the use of private data sources, collectively known as big data. Some people suspect that the government might already have deals made with big data to mine private information for public use. In the future, ties between the government and big data will likely grow stronger.
Government use of data came under scrutiny after revelations of extensive information gathering by the NSA. Now that the NSA stories have faded from much of the public conscience, lingering concerns about how the government uses private data sources continue to dog public officials.

The overall goal is to leverage the compatibility and value of the multiple analytics disciplines. Analytics drives successful testing, targeting and personalization programs. Putting these disciplines within one program provides the impetus for coordination of the analytics … something that rarely occurs in organizations today.

I was looking around for a new place to get my haircut and I walked in off the street to Salon.93. Everyone was polite and accomodating. I left feeling great about the way my hair looked. Debbie is a wonderful stylist and took into account the texture of my hair and how I liked to part it. I am a fan and will be going to Salon 93 twice a month.

Scott has been there when I was recovering from a motorcycle accident. He is patient and works to create a non-intimidating atmosphere. The training can be tough but I felt that everything was done for my best interests. The prices are very reasonable and the facilities are clean. If you want a low stress place to work out and unwind try this place.
