Need some suggestions on where to dine in Raleigh, Durham or Chapel Hill? Listen to a man who knows his way around food: G Patel, President and founder of Eschelon Experiences, one of the best restaurant groups in RDU.

Ask for a dinner recommendation in Raleigh and, guaranteed, one of Gaurav Patel’s (otherwise known as, “G”) will be on the list. He’s no chef, ...

New blog post up for Virgin Atlantic. This one's about some sweet new hotels opening in Durham, NC.
A trio of stylish boutique hotels are poised to open their doors in Durham’s vibrant downtown. As of 2015, the three new hotels will elevate the city’s status as one of the best in the South as Durham’s arts and culinary scenes continue to receive state and national accolades, thrusting the town int...

Another great story about NC on the Virgin Atlantic Airlines blog. Read a little about how Durham, NC, reclaimed and reused their tobacco heritage.
Exploring the urban South doesn’t usually include stunning examples of Adaptive Reuse Architecture, a practice built on the reuse and repurposing o...

Hungry for barbecue? Check out these two places in Raleigh, NC, that I profiled for Virgin Atlantic Airlines.

Few things stir up a heated debate among North Carolinians like barbecue. In a state that takes credit for birthing barbecue, and which calls itsel...

Fantastic brewery. I love the space and the atmosphere here, but I also love the way this brewery explores beer. They're not afraid to try new flavors or new methods ("dry hopping" a beer with juniper berries and tips? crazy, but it works) and their boldness shows in a beer lineup that's big on flavor. A bonus: they have several non-alcoholic drinks on draft. Try the cold-brew coffee on nitro, the Kombucha, or the shrub, a tart soda that makes use of this oft-overlooked drink component.

Very good beer served in a great space. Indoors and out, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has a fun atmosphere where it's easy to make a toast and grab a bite to eat. The beer is German but the menu only shows German flashes, which means you'll find burgers and American bar food alongside a short wurst list and a few other German bites.

Always an excellent and wide-ranging selection of beers. And when in doubt, ask your bartender or just about anyone in the bar as this is a place where folks are serious about their beer. A big draft list and an even bigger bottle list means you'll find a new drink every time.
