This is really cool -- Port Townsend, Wash., chose The Jupiter Pirates: Hunt for the Hydra as its 2015 Community Read. They've got tons of fun events planned, and I'll be headed out to the Olympic peninsula next month to talk about the series.
Here's some exciting news — the Jupiter Pirates are coming to Port Townsend, Washington! Each year Port Townsend's public library chooses a Community Read — a book for folks to read together – and this year their choice is The Jupiter Pirates: Hunt for the Hydra.

Cover art and a plot description for The Jupiter Pirates: Curse of the Iris have hit Amazon. Gotta say I'm really proud of this book.
The mysterious wheels behind the publishing industry have turned, and so covert art and text have been added to bookstore listings for The Jupiter Pirates: Curse of the Iris — here’s Amazon’s. Nice to...

Courtesy of HarperCollins, here's the second Jupiter Pirates book, Curse of the Iris, side by side with older brother Hunt for the Hydra. I almost said "big brother," but Curse is 100 pages longer, so scratch that.  It's also deeper and richer -- for the second JP book I'd explored this universe and zeroed in on the characters and the story I wanted to tell. It's my favorite book of all the ones I've written (so far). Curse comes out Dec. 16, but I'll have sneak previews and other goodies before then at jupiterpirates.com. Come visit!

Here's a peek at Tom Lintern's awesome sketches for the cover of the second book in the Jupiter Pirates series, called Curse of the Iris. It's the first artwork of Yana Hashoone, who's my not-so-secret favorite. Will show off the finished cover to email subscribers tomorrow and then share it with everybody. Excited!
This week is gonna be so much fun… One of the best days on Hunt for the Hydra's journey from idea to finished book was when I first saw the cover art by the amazing Tom Lintern. (Check out more of his work here.) Tom's been working on the cover for the second Jupiter Pirates book, ...

Fun post for HarperCollins Children's about inspirations for The Jupiter Pirates, my space-fantasy series for kids. I talk about influences from the pirate art of Howard Pyle and Andrew Wyeth to storytelling in The Sopranos. (No, that last bit's not a typo.)

My new book The Jupiter Pirates: Curse of the Iris hits stores today. It's the best thing I've ever written. I'd be honored if you'd give it a try.

Just a little excited: The first book in the Jupiter Pirates series is finally out in bookstores and online retailers near you. Whew!
The day is finally here — The Jupiter Pirates: Hunt for the Hydra is on shelves in bookstores, available for shipping and download, and all those good things. Whew! It's really weird being the author of a book that isn't out yet and that nobody knows about. When I signed on with HarperCollins in ...

This is exciting -- School Library Journal made The Jupiter Pirates: Hunt for the Hydra its Pick of the Day, calling it "space opera in the classic style." Book comes out in 10 days -- hope I haven't lost my mind by then!
