Dell isn't just a PC maker—it makes Android tablets too. Its latest release, the Venue 8 7000, is a solid device, not to mention one of the thinnest tablets available.

I'm a little surprised at how DULL the non-hdr shot looks. I expect the sky to be washed out, but the colors are rather desaturated.

The Note 4, the new Moto X, and HDR

This kind of got lost in the Lollipop/Nexus shuffle, but in my Note 4 review earlier this week, I talked about the phone's HDR performance and how it compares to that of the 2014 Moto X. Specifically, I said:

In an HDR-to-HDR comparison, I've found the Note 4's shots tend to be less clear, detailed and true-to-life in coloring than those I captured with the 2014 Moto X.

I figured that might raise a few eyebrows, so I thought I'd point out a quick illustration.

Here are two images taken with the Note 4 -- without HDR, on top, and with HDR, on bottom.

You can see the same landscape as captured by the 2014 Moto X with HDR here: http://goo.gl/BxCiiS

When you look closely, it's a pretty striking difference.

Don't leave your phone out of the Halloween spirit. Dress it up with a holiday-themed live wallpaper and spooky sounds, or just kick back with some zombie-bustin' games.
Unleash your inner ghoul with these fun and creepy apps from the Netherworld. (Or, the Google Play store.)

About friggin' time.

New! Trendlines, copy & paste charts in Google Sheets

Sometimes it’s helpful to recognize and track patterns of data in your spreadsheets, so that’s why today we’re launching trendlines to scatter plot, bar, column, and line graphs in Google Sheets (http://goo.gl/74n8sW).

Trendlines are commonly used to analyze financial and scientific data, but they can even be useful in the classroom or for personal needs like budgeting.

There are a bunch of ways to customize trendlines in Sheets, like:
-Choose between exponential or linear trendlines
-Add a variety of labeling options
-Customize your trendline

Oh and one more smaller but handy update--you can now copy and paste charts from one sheet or spreadsheet to another.

The new Nvidia Shield Tablet is pretty slick. Love the Twitch streaming.
Nvidia's next Shield device is a lot more practical than the first, and is the first Android tablet aimed squarely at gamers.

The Nexus 6 is the best (and most expensive) Google has ever produced. But it really, desperately needs a better camera app.
A whopping six-inch display isn't for everyone. You may learn to love it, but the limited camera software is frustrating.

In two days, we saw the biggest two tablets of the year announced. Here's how they compare.
Sure, one runs iOS and one runs Android, but subtler differences matter as much in choosing between the hottest two tablets of the fall.

The new Moto X is one of the best Android phones you can buy. If only the camera was just a little bit better.
With the exception of a mediocre camera, this may be the best Android phone you can buy.

We talk to NASA's Chris Provencher about how his team is using Google's 3D-mapping smartphone to help astronauts up in space.
