I walked in to a crowded bicycle store this morning and overheard much bemoaning about Specialized and the Cafe Roubaix fiasco. It prompted me to raise my voice and loudly proclaim ..... "I am Roubaix"! Slowly, people turned and saw the good humour on my face and so began a chorus of "No. I am Roubaix". Today is gonna be a good day. (disclaimer ..... this did not actually happen but would have been a cool way to start the day - walking into a crowded bicycle store I mean).

Anybody else having this issue?

For some inexplicable reason my Garmin500 (which has performed flawlessly since new about 18months ago) has been running slow! Protected sections of my regular commute, unaffected by elevation or headwinds, displayed average speed at 5-6 kph below usual. Cadence was about right but my effort was far greater than the result justified. I actually stopped to check my tyre pressure (which was fine btw). I battled on for another few kms but the jarring effect of what I was seeing on the read out and knew to be wrong forced me to turn the unit off. Has anyone else had this problem with a Garmin500?

I've given up on mine now Jason, went and bought the edge 510, nice device. I like the slightly larger screen as well as some of the other features. I'll just use my 500 for going too and from work.

Well ... I don't know about my North American, European and UK friends but here in Australia it Magpie Season. These black and white, malice filled Aussie native birds become very active in our Spring (it's mating season apparently); swooping upon unsuspecting cyclist passing beneath their nests. I'm yet to find a 'dignified' preventative measure that actually works. What's your experience with birds that attack?
The arrival of spring has sparked a warning about the return of a seasonal threat - swooping magpies. People are being urged to be on the lookout for swooping magpies as the birds become protective of their nests during breeding season. The birds can cause serious injuries by pecking people's ...

I got swooped this morning. I had to resort to waving my arm over my head while riding. Why magpies think people on bikes will go up trees to eat their babies has me mystified.
