How to save images in non-webp format from the new Google+ web interface

The new Google+ loads faster, and part of that is due to images being served in .webp format (on supported browsers). If a user has images set to download, they'll download in .png or .jpg format. However, if a user doesn't and you try to Save image as... or drag to your desktop, you'll get a .webp file which you'll then have to convert somehow.

This trick has worked so far for me:

1. open the image in a new tab/window
2. remove the -rw-no from the end (you only really need to remove the -rw)
3. save image as... or drag to desktop

Easy-peasy...
