Thinking of replacing your boot drive with an Advanced Format disk in your older Intel BIOS based Linux server? Though it shouldn't be necessary on a GPT based drive, get ready to ignore fdisk warnings and set that boot flag. Using parted to align your partitions? Get ready to use fdisk again.

Added a Seagate ST3000DM001 to my D945GCLF2D over the weekend. Let's just say I learned plenty about MBR, GPT, BIOS Boot Partition, GRUB2 installing to the MBR of the first drive (even if it happens to be your installation media), etc.
