This is an image I captured during a roundup at the Banner Ranch near Casper, WY two weeks ago. I shot this with my Canon 5D Mark III and my EF 24-105 lens.

I am very excited to have had my first blog post on +Rick Sammon's website. I describe some of my favorite images and how I thought about each of them as I shot them and edited them. I also link to Rick's shoot in Casper at the Wonder Bar with some of his excellent images. Enjoy! #photography
I would like to thank Rick for asking me to write a post for his blog. I want to share some of my photographs that I consider the strongest, and some tips that might help you to become a more effective photographer. Rick and I met on social media, Twitter to be exact. I found out he was slated to be the keynote speaker, and lead a workshop, at the Wild West Photo Fest in Casper, Wyoming, which is where I live. I participated in his C...

I had an opportunity, as I was driving to Red Lodge, Montana to go skiing, to shoot a couple images that I feel perfectly represent all that's great about the American West. #skiing #wyoming
These images of the front range of the Wyoming Rockies are really emblematic of what makes the American West amazing.

I captured this image of a Bighorn ram watching over one of his herd ewes on the North Fork of the Shoshone River west of Cody, Wyoming. He is a fairly young ram, but had apparently asserted his dominance over the other rams in this herd.

Gear: Canon EOS 50D with 100-400 EF

I captured this bison image near Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone National Park, my home park. I called it "Remembering the Old Days" because his expression almost seems as if he is contemplating something. Shot this with my Canon 5D Mark III and EF 100-400mm with a 1.4x teleconverter.

I've heard that Google+ is great for photographers, so I am going to start using it for that purpose. This first image is one I took during a workshop with David Stoecklein a couple weeks ago. I called it "Evening Visit."

I titled this image "Taking a Siesta." This bison was just chilling on the Shoshone National Forest about ten miles east of the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. #wildlifephotography   #wildlifephotos   #bison   #yellowstonenationalpark

I have heard rumors that Google+ is a great platform for photographers and is actually more conversational and serendipitous than Twitter. I am hoping this is the case.

This is my first image posted at 500px. I took this image of the United States Capitol in the Spring.
I captured this image of the United States Capitol in the Spring of 2011, just before the cherry trees began to bloom.
