#wideofthemark

I find myself increasingly concerned with the tones and rhetoric that accompany social media. When Christians speak more fervently about the possibility of financial collapse than they do about the final judgment there's a problem. When we can debate the constitution more readily and seek to defend it with more tenacity than the scripture then something is amiss. When political figures are called saviors and spoken of in messianic tones it isn't hyperbole or urgency it's blasphemy. Perhaps it's time to pause and consider whose kingdom we are part of.
18 For many live, about whom I have often told you, and now, with tears, I tell you that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is the belly, they exult in their shame, and they think about earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.
(Philippians 3:18-21)

Through the years I have had to unfollow many folks obsessed with this stuff. It is too dark a distraction from more important things. This is not to say it should never come up, or that Christians should never talk about politics; we talk about Star Wars and good soup recipes too. But the ceaseless call to action in this world for its own sake drives out Christ and His Kingdom.

Under the old law there was tithing and free will offerings. Today the rules for giving are not as defined. So what does God expect from us when we give? We'll answer the questions of one of our members and search the scripture for some perspective on cheerful giving.

Can you answer the one question that matters most? The sixth and final lesson in our series seeks to answer a question that becomes increasingly difficult for those who do not mind their faith. Why am I a Christian?

Why would God want me to return? How do we receive the one who is repenting? Do we have the same whys as our Father when it comes to His children?

The whys of the Father is the fourth in our series of lessons on why

This week's thought from the word goes along with yesterday's am sermon. When the will to worship fails do we change the worship to suit the individual or find reason to reignite our passion? We try to answer that in "The Will to Worship".
Be sure to comment on the blog or leave your thought's here.

Many today find their interest in worship declining. Can a walk through the Psalms help reignite our passion for praising God? Finding the will to worship was yesterday morning's lesson.

Seeking the Father's will in everything is our highest calling, but there's a lot of sacrifice involved in walking the narrow way. Can we say that we desire for nothing less than the Father's will to be done? The fifth lesson in our series is entitled Nevertheless

Introduction
I guess I'm a consummate geek. Just made the switch to Mac after replacing 5 laptops in four years. I work as the manager of client services for Data Foundry, and I preached for 13 years for Greens Bayou Church of Christ. Currently I'm worshiping at Decker Prairie until I find somewhere else I can be of service. I have a passion for the study of words, photography, and writing.

We eat here fairly regularly. Usually once a week at least. Which is enough to know that they are consistent and have good food. Too often barbecue is hit or miss, a mistake during the smoking can throw of an entire days product. Happy to say that Rusty and his crew are almost always on their game. Brisket is moist, turkey is delicious, and their baked potatoes are legendary. Probably the best recommendation I can give them is to say that it's been more than year since we've gone to Woody's BBQ across the highway. Country Cousins is just better

I've known Daniel Baker the GM for All American for the better part of 3 years, and have been impressed not only with his knowledge of the industry, but also his commitment to customer experience. Daniel's background is in turf and greens management, so he has extensive knowledge of the products he sells and how they will perform in the real world. He can make recommendations for customers that will take into account the things that make your outdoor project unique. Customer satisfaction is key to the team so whether it's sod, soil, mulch, or stone let them help you make your next outdoor project a success.

I have traveled great distances to shop here. For a business to be thriving in this economy these guys have to be doing something right. A great mix of new and vintage games a good selection of minis and games that appeal to everyone from the novice to the most experienced. Anytime I'm in the area I make plans to visit.
