We're fortunate here in the Wasatch to have a handful of non-profit groups who care deeply about Mother Nature and getting outside for play. The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance is one of those of organizations and we're proud to support their efforts in the Wasatch and beyond. Check out how you can help climbing in Utah and help to make our crags more sustainable.

Jan's is amazing! We recently rented ski/snowboard equipment for a week long trip to Park City. There were 5 of us and the staff was so friendly, helpful and patient. They allowed us to switch out equipment numerous times between skis and snowboards. A couple of people in our party went in because our feet were hurting in our ski boots, the staff was so accommodating and nice and gladly helped us find the right boots. The most incredible thing happened after I chose to get a bigger boot but when I got to the slopes I realized they were too big to ski in. The Jan's ski shop at Deer Valley called Jan's Park Ave. and they brought me a smaller boot to the slopes!!! I was amazed! I highly recommend Jan's Park Ave. for ski equipment rental! They had the best prices and give you a break for multi-day rental. I can't say enough good things about the people at Jan's!!!

First of all I rented an bike online and screwed it up by not doing it 24 hours in advance and not selecting the date for the rental. However when I arrived they were more than accommodating. They happened to have the bike I wanted and rented it to me there on the spot. I rented a high end mountain bike so that I could get an idea on how it handled/rode. It was in great shape and mechanically sound and solid. No issues what-so-ever. The only thing they didn't provide was the extra oxygen for my lungs to deal with the altitude change. However they did provide me with details on where to ride and how to get there. I would definitely rent from them again.

Unfortunate experience with my family. Indifferent attitude by ski rental help - answered almost all questions with "whatever you think", I guess missing the point that we were asking for guidance. Sold my wife on a performance ski package when I was not there. I trusted them to set her up with appropriate gear - she has not skied in years, doesn't know anything about ski equipment and laughed when I asked if she asked for or agreed to a performance package. She said she was just joking with them about pretty colors. Clearly someone who could use professional guidance and instead got up-charged.

Service is terrible due to poor management, expect to pay 25-30% more than anywhere else.
Response from the owner - 3 weeks ago
Zach, Sorry to hear about your poor experience. Could you let me know what you paid 25-30% more for? Did you find it cheaper online, and could you send the link? Which manager did you have problems with? Do you remember their name? We regularly check our prices both locally and online and we stay very competitive, especially when it comes to current model year and like style/sizes. We would love to get some more information from you so we can work to make this situation right. Please, feel free to contact our General Manager, Jack Walzer (jackw@Jans.com), or myself, Scott House (shouse@jans.com). Again, our apologies you did not enjoy your shopping experience with us. Service is good but expect to pay 25% more than anywhere else. When I raised this with them, they said you pay for the good service and will not price match. So instead of making a sale, they got $0 from me. I bought the same product elsewhere and saved myself $100.

I was going on a Mtn Bike Ride yesterday and had a bad rotor and no brake. I stopped into Jans and took my bike downstairs. They were backed up for a few days, but spent the 20 minutes I needed to save my ride! This is not the first time they have done this for me. I appreciate their experience and concern for a fellow biker. See you in a week or so I am sure!
