CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Smith Dairy, the century-old Orrville dairy known for its yellow milk jugs, has created a line of creamy, premium Artisa Fine Curd Cottage Cheese that it says will convert people who say they don't like cottage cheese.
"Cottage cheese is higher in protein and lower in sugar than Greek yogurt, it's low-fat and gluten-free, it's a nutrient-dense good snack, but it's very polarizing: People either like cottage cheese or they don't," said Penny Baker, marketing director for Smith Dairy Products. #cottagecheese #Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Jack and Suzy Welch, the man Fortune magazine dubbed "Manager of the Century," and the Harvard-educated business journalist who married him, say that creating a workplace culture where workers are both engaged and inspired starts with trusting them enough to tell the truth. #RealLIfeMBA
Business is a sport. It's like any sport. The team that has the best players wins." But if 65 percent of the team isn't engaged, how is it supposed to win? "Getting engagement is critical," Jack Welch said.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- America's addiction to our mobile devices has not only made us more uncomfortable with silence and solitude, it makes us actually want to talk less, reports Sherry Turkle, an ethnographer who studies the impact of technology on communication. "Our mobile devices are so powerful that they don't just change what we do, they're changing who we are" and how we relate to each other, said Turkle, director of the M.I.T. Initiative on Technology and Self, and author of "The Flight from Conversation."

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- Dan Musson and Dan Kubiak turned a lifelong love of creating things into a new business venture called #DANSOAP, an all-natural, biodegradable, environmentally friendly laundry detergent that's kinder to Lake Erie than most national brands. #thisisCLE
"Regular laundry detergents, even those that claim to be 'free and clear,' contain chemicals and compounds that have not only been proven to cause harm to humans, but also the environment," Dan Musson said.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The only thing that's clear about when stores open this #Thanksgiving and #BlackFriday is that consumers have to pay attention to what stores they want to shop, and in what order, to score the deals they want....
Consumers have to pay attention to what stores they want to hit, and in what order, to get the deals they're hoping to score on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- #BlackFriday veteran Tony Avitar went to the Cuyahoga Falls #BestBuy last Tuesday hoping to camp out for his 12th straight year of doorbusters. Instead, store employees told the Akron man he won't be able to pitch his tent outside the store anymore, on orders of the #CuyahogaFalls Fire Department...  #Cleveland
"We have some really big concerns with propane tanks, generators and gasoline inside tents," said Cuyahoga Falls Fire Chief Paul Moledor. "It's very unsafe. We went out to Best Buy and talked to them, and they agreed with us that it's unsafe.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to remind yourself of the things you needed to talk to someone about, before you even called them? "Wouldn't it be perfect if, instead of the person's picture popping up when I called, my mental notes could pop up, so while I was talking to him, I could say, 'Oh, by the way?" Michael Knall said. #cinntich #thisisCLE

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- "Shark Tank" viewers might disagree, but Buck Mason co-founders Sasha Koehn and Erik Schnakenberg say they have zero regrets about turning down the Sharks' $300,000 offers to buy a stake in their American-made clothing company.
"Shark Tank" Buck Mason clothing company co-founders, including a Cleveland native, say they made the right decision turning down $200,000 and not turning over a big stake in their company.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- With less than a week left until Christmas, #retailers are offering all kinds of last-minute incentives to woo procrastinating shoppers. From free shipping to expanded in-store pickup to more lenient deadlines to get gifts there on time, stores are determined to maximize sales during their final shopping hours.
"This holiday retail sales season is looking significantly brighter than the previous two years due to plummeting gasoline prices, elevated levels of consumer confidence, improved job prospects, and heavy price discounting by retailers," said IHS Global Insight US Economist Chris Christopher.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Retailers' decision to jump-start the holiday season on Nov. 1 got consumers spending early, but also siphoned off sales from #Thanksgiving and #BlackFriday through Cyber Monday. That's why some #CyberMonday discounts have spilled over into "#CyberTuesday" and the rest of this week, to spur sales and shed inventory.
"The holiday season is a marathon, not a sprint," NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay said. From now through Christmas Eve, "every day is going to be Black Friday, and every minute is going to be Cyber Monday."

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Lower unemployment, falling gas prices, rising wages, and soaring consumer confidence are expected to boost #Ohio #retail sales by 4.5 percent this holiday season, a $630 million shot in the arm over the next two months, according to researchers at the University of Cincinnati Economics Center.   #blackfriday
"We feel very optimistic about this year's forecast, based on what happened last year," when Ohio retail sales grew by a higher-than-anticipated 4.7 percent, said Gordon Gough, president and chief executive of the Ohio Council of Retail Merchants.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Whenever Jason Bristol hears another national retailer announcing shop-til-you-drop holiday hours, he thinks about the workers who will end up working those graveyard and weekend shifts.
He then strolls over to the small shops in #OhioCity and #Tremont that offer exactly the opposite kind of shopping experience from the big-name stores that will be mobbed with #BlackFriday throngs next weekend. #ThisisCLE
"I shop local because I want to support Cleveland's continual renaissance and local economy," Jason Bristol said. "Two, I will not support businesses that do that to their workers, and three, I think you have to put your money where your mouth is. If you don't want people working 42-hour shifts, then you can't stand in line for that flat-screen TV."
