Jane - forgive me, the original patient skeptic here, in that I think your interpretation of the Sanofi press release is a little Pollyanna-ish.  Just like "patient experience" has already descended into the realm of marketing-speak, I fear that the role of Chief Patient Officer could oh-so-easily do the same.  Appearance - not substance.

I do think that giving Dr. Beal the benefit of the doubt as she gets started is fair. But it remains to be seen whether Sanofi's appointment of Dr. Beal will be yet one more attempt to merely look good, while they continue to suck as many dollars as they can from Americans who can't afford the drugs they need.
