In need of a quick $75? Work as a hired actor in Florida to protest conservation efforts. Yes, this actually happened. http://earthjustice.org/blog/2015-april/caught-in-the-act-anti-conservation-forces-hire-actors-for-fake-everglades-protest
From the perpetually busy “We Are Not Making This Up Department” here at the Florida Earthjustice office, we bring you an odd news item: It seems that opponents who don’t want the state to buy Everglades conservation land from Big Sugar actually hired actors to pretend to be protesters outside a government meeting.

I managed to not spray chai onto my keyboard until number 10.
It's been over 15 years since I was in tech, and yet these still are familiar. #funny
The author recalls actual words uttered to her by sexist male colleagues in the tech sector.

Offbeat Bride launched on January 1st, 2007 and over the past 8+ years, the Offbeat Empire has grown from a thing I did first as a side hobby, then as a job for me, and eventually as a small busine...

The Stowaway takes place in 1908, well into the Edwardian age. But Vivian Drew and Captain Hook were both born during Victorian times, and my research has wandered into that span of years as well. Through this, I've come to r...

This continues to be one of the bests posts evar. #books #bookbinding #cute
Well then, let me show you, because that’s what I do for a living. Right now, it’s this time of the year, and the little ones have just freshly hatched: You’ll notice they’re still blind and naked when they hatch. So I make them little coats to keep them warm during their first winter: See how they happily line up to put them on: See? Better. Now they’re ready to go and explore the world. And if they make it throug...

Monkey King stories are always so delightful. #fantasy #kaleidotrope   #shortstory
“Monkey King, Faerie Queen” by Zen Cho (EPUB | MOBI). Now to be fair, Sun Wukong was already in a bad mood when he arrived at the Faerie Court. You don't know who Sun Wukong is? You're kidding! You haven't heard of the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, the one who is Mindful of Emptiness, ...

I have been taught the most magical method of submitting tech support requests that make it easy for developers (or anyone!) to understand what the problem is, so that they can hopefully fix it. ...

The brilliant explosions of dead stars have been used for years to illuminate the far-flung reaches of our cosmos. The explosions, called Type Ia supernovae, allow astronomers to measure the distances to galaxies and measure the ever-increasing rate at which our universe is stretching apart. Now, scientists show that a particular class of Type Ia supernovae that occur near youthful stars can improve these measurements with a precision of more than two times that achieved before. The findings will help light the way to understanding dark energy. Details: http://go.nasa.gov/1HNdkPJ
