Market takes place on Sundays and is a good option in the neighborhood. Not as expansive as the Union Square market, but it has some produce stands, meat, cheese and bakeries.

Thought this cozy restaurant was charming and the food was delicious and well-priced. Good low-key place in a neighborhood where these types of restaurants are hard to find. I recommend their seasonal specials. Wood-burning oven made the restaurant temperature a bit hot!

Fresh and seasonally-influenced fish and seafood, as well as fresh pastas. Also, their bread basket is homemade! In addition to regular dining, I held a private event with about 20 family members here in their upstairs space with great success. The staff was friendly and accomodating, and our mixed group of adults and children was satisfied with the selection. The prices are a bit higher than what you might be looking for in an average weeknight dinner, but the food is excellent.

A great source for hard-to-find natural ingredients and grains, seeds, nuts and coffee by bulk. Prices are high, especially for produce, but everything is organic. Best for healthy/natural pantry items, with a much smaller meat/cheese/fish selection.

One of the best supermarket experiences in New York City. Better than the other more cramped and crowded Fairway locations, and it goes without saying that Fairway's inventory is head and shoulders above D'ag, Gristedes and even Food Emporium. Very fresh produce, fish, cheeses, etc. Lots of prepared foods, excellent bakery, top-notch bulk section, and huge selection of natural, organic and vegan products as well.

Pros: Delicious and fresh house-made pastas, good for sharing, reasonably priced. Would be a great place to bring a large group and try lots of things (they only take reservations for 6+). Cons: Menu is slightly limited outside of pastas, but the few salad/side selections we tried were very good too.

Fresh flavors and plenty of healthy and/or vegetarian options. I love the house salad with lemon-mint dressing, and we also shared a really delicious lamb flatbread. This is a great neighborhood spot with very reasonable prices. It would also be good for groups (spacious enough, easy to order a few bottles of wine), and they have a fixed price menu every night.
