Dear School Librarians,

If you haven't yet voted in the ALA/AASL elections, make today the day to do it! The deadline is Wednesday, April 5. ALA needs the voice and votes of AASL members. (And, if you aren't a member, please, please join. You are missing so many wonderful PD, networking, AND awards/recognitions opportunities.) For information about voting, see Audrey Church's blog posting: http://knowledgequest.aasl.org/lets-get-vote/.

Also, we school library people have the chance this year to elect one of our own, Terry Grief, as ALA President. She is incredibly qualified and I know will represent school librarians and ALL librarians well. Please vote, and vote for her! Also, vote for AASL members running for ALA Council so that we are well represented there.

Hi Allison, Thanks so much for setting this up, Allison, and so nice to see you online. I'm going to get going on it later this week. I'm afraid I don't have a training domain. One of those things I've yet to get to. Could I use a regular Google account?

Please excuse the cross-postings, but I want to reach as many of you as I can.

Today is the deadline for IdeaLab submissions for the AASL Conference in Phoenix. The IdeaLab will be held on Thursday afternoon of the conference, on November 9. This a great opportunity for you to share one of your successful ideas with a large audience of librarians. Here’s the program description: "The IdeaLab is a best practice event showcasing collaborative projects leading the way in school library program development. Attendees will browse learning stations, consisting of video displays with large screen monitors, at their own pace. Presenters are required to prepare an electronic presentation with eye-appealing visuals along with a short presentation for roaming attendees. A take-away in the form of a handout is encouraged for all presenters. Presenters are encouraged to make a QR code or short link available to attendees.”

I participated during the last conference in 2015, and I was amazing how many people came by and were interested in my mini-presentation. I was so glad I had that opportunity to share my passion for the value of blogging. So, take a few minutes before tonight’s deadline, and write a proposal for one of YOUR passions!

with best wishes,

Jane
