I started to turn some chapters of my thesis into blog posts. Number one is a light introduction to predator-prey systems and Aposematism.
This post will provide a general introduction to the biology of predator-prey systems: I will start with the evolution of predator and prey and their consequential co-evolution in predator-prey systems. The focus will then move to mechanisms to avoid attack and how it results in a complex ...

A new generation of GM foods is winning over governments and former critics of the technology, and scientists say the crops could help feed people in the developing world. So are those who oppose GM doing more harm than good? And is their opposition based on genuine safety concerns, or is it just feeding fear? Show more / Show less

nervously excited about today's poll in Ireland!
I hope common sense wins over obsolete traditions, discrimination and narrow mindsets today!

Just in case you wondered why cars are better driven by computers than by people. I have been knocked off my bicycle twice because the drivers claimed they didn't see me still holding the unlocked phone in their hands. (both were no teen drivers)
I agree with Elon Musk that cars driven by people might be outlawed in the future (http://www.forbes.com/sites/roberthof/2015/03/17/elon-musk-eventually-cars-you-can-actually-drive-may-be-outlawed)

I watched Shock Treatment yesterday and I still cannot believe I haven't heard of this film before!! To all the Rocky Horror fans this is a true jewel!
Shock Treatment is about a mental health clinic staged as a live TV show. It has some outstanding song writing with Bitchin in the kitchen being just an example. And don't we all need a little Shock Treatment once in a while?

very nice and worth a visit for sure. however, it's a little overcrowded and the tour was rather rushed.

Unfortunately, it's not that good. The views are great but the exhibitions are dated and rather boring. It's also fairly overpriced for what the castle has to offer.

best to come early or it can be rather busy inside the cave and beach. after a short swim you are rewarded with a perfect paradisiacal beach
