Kolegové z českého Googlu připravují virtuální* akcelerátor pro firmy, které mají ambice vstoupit na zahraniční trhy (ve velkém) a chtějí pomoci s marketingem.

https://events.withgoogle.com/exportni-akcelerator/

(* Slovem virtuální myslím, že nebudete tři měsíce sedět v nějakém konkrétním fyzickém prostoru. Přednášky a workshopy budou samozřejmě reálné.)

Registrace možná pouze do 15. dubna.

Until the advent of the web, professional software development didn't have a front-end/back-end dichtomy. There were C programmers, Pascal programmers and FORTRAN programmers, but the language they used was a detail rather than a reflection on their background and...

A few years ago, I took on a freelance project to implement an Internet Explorer component in C++. I was billing a healthy hourly rate on other projects at the time, but this particular client insisted on a fixed price....

let's add 2G +/shares/comments on this post ;)

We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY. "Gangnam Style" has been viewed so many times we had to upgrade to a 64-bit integer (9,223,372,036,854,775,808)!

Hover over the counter in PSY's video to see a little math magic and stay tuned for bigger and bigger numbers on YouTube.

Imo media and searchable history should just follow the scope and character of the event. Has the event root private character, for example dancing naked at the party? If yes, then the subject can demand removing the leak from public searchable history, no matter if s/he is public figure, because the scope of the event is private/limited. Oppositely, if the event is related to any kind of publicly available service, or may have a public effect, then the scope of the event is public, and has to stay publicly available.

let's push to drop #ie8
whoever's still stuck on #windowsxp: get #chrome, it's like replacing slow, disfunctional, old car with tuned hovercraft ;)

For the unlucky folks that still support IE8, here's a few resources on helping to make the case on dropping support:

It's a massively slow experience
https://github.com/h5bp/lazyweb-requests/issues/11#issuecomment-8184513 has data on how different IE8 is in performance issues. (We could still use more data)

You gain critical features when you drop

Here's a decent view of what you gain:
* http://beta.caniuse.com/#compare=ie+8,ie+9  (so useful)
* http://html5please.com/#gtie8 (this includes some stuff in ie8)

(In some cases this means you  no longer need polyfills, in others it unlocks real practical use).
If you have any other resources or techniques that have helped you drop IE8 support at your spot, leave a comment.
