I know I'm not supposed to work on vacation, but Lightroom release day came. So here I am uploading the latest episode of TWiP TheFIX in this gorgeous AirBnb in Amsterdam. In this episode I talk with Peter Krogh about all-new face recognition and raw panoramas in Lightroom CC / Lightroom 6. http://thisweekinphoto.com/thefix-010-lightroom-cc-lightroom-6-is-here-with-peter-krogh/

If you're looking for a streamlined approach to Lightroom, you might like my brand new lynda.com course Up and Running with Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC. There are even a few free movies in the course for those who are not lynda subscribers, like this one about the new Auto-Straighten feature.
Auto-straightening provides you with in-depth training on Photography. Taught by Jan Kabili as part of the Up and Running with Lightroom 6 and Lightroom CC

The lock-keeper's pants. Each of the boat locks on the Canal de Borgougne has a lock-keeper who lives in a bucolic cottage along the canal, and apparently wears green jeans. The sheep don't seem to mind.

Lightroom users - If you're interested in buying the stand-alone version of Lightroom 6, rather than subscribing to Lightroom CC, here's the link. Lightroom 6 and CC are the same except that Lightroom 6 doesn't give you access to Lightroom Mobile and feature updates may not be on the same schedule as for Lightroom CC (although both Lightroom 6 and CC will get the same bug fixes and camera and lens profile updates).

Thanks for the info.  I got lucky on Tuesday and accidentally found the page to purchase it as a stand alone upgrade.  Later, I tried to help someone else purchase the upgrade and could not find it again.  Adobe either did a very poor job of making it easy to purchase, or a super job of hiding it and making it difficult.

Awesome +Jan Kabili  I've gone through the course but still have a question - I'm upgrading from LR 5 to Lightroom CC and can't find any of my catalogs when I open CC. How do I get all my catalogs into CC and how do I get that window "Ask which catalogue to open every time you open LR"? I have been unable to get through to Adobe support. Any help would be great please and thanks.

Lightroom CC release day is HERE! The new features in Lightroom CC are now listed at http://www.adobe.com/prod…/photoshop-
lightroom/features.html. I'll be posting a special edition of TWiP TheFIX with Lightroom expert Peter Krogh within the hour, in which we give you a first look at a couple of the hot new features in Lightroom CC - Lightroom 6: Face Recognition and Photo Merge Panorama!!

Now if only the video upload speed here in the Netherlands weren't so slow. :-)

Welcome +Gordon Laing  to All About the Gear, one of the most popular shows on the TWiP network of photography podcasts. Gordon is joining All About the Gear founder +Doug Kaye  as podcast co-host. It's an unbeatable team, on an unbeatable podcast network. Don't miss Gordon's debut on this episode, which just happens to be about one of the cameras on my most-wanted list, the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II.
The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II sports a 40MP MFT sensor, improved image stabilization and better controls. Gordon Laing joins the AAtG team.

When we were here a couple years ago I tried to shoot this old carousel, but the light wasn't right. I've regretted that near miss ever since, thinking I'd never get the chance again. Never say never.
Today in Beaune, France.

Jax has the best seafood in Boulder and has for years. It's tough to get a table on weekends, but locals love to pop in during the week and sit at the u-shaped bar or one of the two prized tables in front of Jax, where you can see the Boulder scene close up. The service is great; waiters tend to stay there for years. Do not miss the calamari appetizer. The catfish po'boy is a good deal. Some entrees are relatively pricey, but the consistent quality makes the price worthwhile. One downside - acoustics aren't good, so it can be hard to have an intimate conversation in the small dining room.
