Looking for a beach vacation with a twist?  Consider Chincoteague Island, Virginia.  They have all the usual stuff -- sand, seafood, sun, and surf -- plus WILD PONIES.

Why stay in a boring hotel in San Francisco?

Looking for unique hotels in San Francisco? Here are two that I liked, in my latest for the Perceptive Travel Blog .... Hotel Kabuki in Japantown and the Sir Francis Drake Hotel off of Union Square.

I can't wait to take my kids to Turkey.  Has anyone gone with their family?  Highlights?  Lowlights?

Before we had kids, my husband and I pressed the pause button on our careers and spent a month traveling in Turkey. Because the world is big and our time is limited, we don't usually repeat trips, even great ones. In the case of Turkey, we might have to make an exception.

Think you know what Adventures by Disney is all about?  I didn't.  So fun, so luxurious, and so little mouse!  Read about our experience with them in Scotland, and have fun storming the castle.

Introduction
I'm the publisher of the popular-ish family travel website: Travel Savvy Mom.  I've also written for Parenting magazine, National Geographic’s Intelligent Travel Blog and Fodors.com.

(I essentially write and travel the world for a living.  It's not exactly combat duty.)

Wondering how to circle me?  I suggest Travel or Parenting, though I post about the environment, blogging, social media, and news too.

I live in Palo Alto, California and my personal interests include the San Francisco Giants, overwrought costume dramas, and unintentionally funny spelling mistakes.
