We were honoured to welcome HRH Prince of Wales to our mill on Monday 26th March 2018.

During his visit he joined the Business In The Community summit to discuss waste utilisation in the UK & the need to move towards a more circular economy by bringing waste back into value chains.

Coffee culture is thriving, with many of us purchasing multiple on-the-go drinks of our favourite caffeine pick-me-up each day, leading to an estimated 3 billion coffee cups being used annually, but only a fraction of these being recycled.

In the UK it is estimated that 4,861 disposable paper cups are used every minute, which is over seven million a day and right now, less than one in 400 cups are recycled.

As a solution G . F Smith have partnered with us and our Zero Waste CupCycling™ process to develop a new colourful paper range ‘Extract’ to help eradicate the horrendous issue the world has with plastic lined coffee cups.

Disposable coffee cups are absolutely recyclable if disposed of in the correct way, and the process and technology required to do so are already in place - including here at James Cropper. We developed the technology to upcycle coffee cups into beautiful packaging products. Take a look around our CupCycling™ plant, which featured on BBC Breakfast last week.
