As a pioneering digital gypsy he divides his time between Vancouver, San Francisco, Asia and his olive farm in Italy.

The long version:

James Taylor is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years experience working with startups and multi-nationals in Europe, Asia and North America. By the time he was 21 he had already negotiated deals with consumer products giants including Sony, Bertlesmann and Yamaha. Taylor’s first business became one of Scotland’s largest music companies encompassing record labels, artist management, talent booking and music publishing. With Top 10 albums in the USA and UK, sell-out arena tours and placements on movies, hit shows and TV adverts for global brands Taylor grew the company to where it had distribution in over 23 countries. He also found time to fulfill roles as chairman for an industry association, specialist advisor to a government agency, trustee of an arts charity and complete a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). In 2007 Taylor decided to sell a large stake in the music company to a private equity firm, which allowed him to pursue other business interests in California in the technology, media, publishing and education.  Since then he has launched and developing nineteen online learning businesses, advised high-growth internet startups in Silicon Valley and created a consumer products brand in Asia.

James Taylor is a pioneering marketing strategist who advises leading technology, publishing, online education, music and media brands internationally.  He has created successful campaigns across a variety of industries using his deep knowledge of online marketing including social media, affiliate marketing, SEO, content marketing, public relations, PPC and video marketing.  Companies, brands and celebrities he has worked with include Sony Entertainment, Universal, Google, Johnson & Johnson, YouTube, Yamaha, BMG, Bang & Olufsen, ArtistWorks, Deacon Blue, Martin Taylor (Jeff Beck, Stephane Grappelli), Billy Cobham (Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock), Luis Conte (Madonna, Phil Collins), Howard Levy (Steely Dan, Bela Fleck), Tony Trischka (Sir Paul McCartney, Steve Martin), Tommy Emmanuel (Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins), John Patitucci (Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis), Bryan Sutton (Dixie Chicks, Taylor Swift), Andy Hall (Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton), Mike Marshall (Edgar Meyer, Joshua Bell), Darol Anger (Suzanne Vega, Bill Evans) and Nathan East (Michael Jackson, Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder). In addition to holding a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) James was also awarded the SD Southern Scholarship to study international marketing at the Richard Ivey Business School in Canada.

James Taylor has toured in Europe, North America and the Far East, played on countless TV and radio shows and performed in some of the great music venues in the world including London’s Royal Albert Hall, Ibrox Stadium, the Wigmore Hall and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.  He has performed or recorded with artists including Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknall, Stephane Grappelli, Paul Carrack, David Grisman, Bill Wyman, Kiki Dee, Guy Barker, Alan Barnes and the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra.
