James Taylor is a serial entrepreneur with over 20 years experience working with startups and multi-nationals in Europe, Asia and North America. By the time he was 21 he had already negotiated deals with consumer products giants including Sony, Bertlesmann and Yamaha. Taylor’s first business became one of Scotland’s largest music companies encompassing record labels, artist management, talent booking and music publishing. With Top 10 albums in the USA and UK, sell-out arena tours and placements on movies, hit shows and TV adverts for global brands Taylor grew the company to where it had distribution in over 23 countries. He also found time to fulfill roles as chairman for an industry association, specialist advisor to a government agency, trustee of an arts charity and complete a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). In 2007 Taylor decided to sell a large stake in the music company to a private equity firm, which allowed him to pursue other business interests in California in the technology, media, publishing and education. Since then he has launched and developing nineteen online learning businesses, advised high-growth internet startups in Silicon Valley and created a consumer products brand in Asia.MARKETER
James Taylor has toured in Europe, North America and the Far East, played on countless TV and radio shows and performed in some of the great music venues in the world including London’s Royal Albert Hall, Ibrox Stadium, the Wigmore Hall and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. He has performed or recorded with artists including Ronnie Wood, Mick Hucknall, Stephane Grappelli, Paul Carrack, David Grisman, Bill Wyman, Kiki Dee, Guy Barker, Alan Barnes and the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra. He is a member of Martin Taylor’s Spirit of Django, which won Best Group at the 1997 British Jazz Awards.
