- The Boston GlobePolitical Reporter, present
James Pindell authors WMUR's Political Scoop and provides on air political analysis for WMUR-TV. The Washington Post called him the "Insider's Insider" for his coverage of New Hampshire politics and he is the only reporter to cover both the Iowa Caucuses and New Hampshire Primary as a beat for local outlets.
He joined the WMUR News 9 team in August 2010. Previously, he was the publisher of New Hampshire Political Report, a subscription newsletter for political insiders. He has also worked for The Boston Globe, The Des Moines Register, Campaigns and Elections Magazine, and the Indianapolis Star. His work covering the West Virginia State House for a newspaper there was the basis of a cover story for American Journalism Review.
In addition to his duties at WMUR, he writes a column every Sunday in the New Hampshire Union Leader called The Back Story. He also writes a separate column of political analysis weekly that appears in the Nashua Telegraph, Portsmouth Herald and Laconia Daily Sun. Since 2009 he has written a monthly column on local political culture for New Hampshire Magazine.
He is a graduate of Drake University and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. For fun, he likes to take long walks with his wife and his dog, Scoop.
