A Peoria AZ, is safe and sound at his home, due to his quick thinking and comforting attitude towards the intruder. According to the 911 audio recording, the homeowner refrained from using a gun to protect himself from the 24 – year old male intruder who entered his home to burglarize it.
Instead the homeowner calmly said “You all right man, you all right, its ok we’re going to get you some help ok… but I’m going to have to get the police department going here. 911… yes I need a police officer at my home please.”
While on the phone with dispatcher, the homeowner continues to comforti the intruder,. The intruder complies with the home owners instructions to sit down and wait for the police. “I want you to sit down put your hands beside your head right now ok, sit down cause I don’t want to get my gun out, sit down.”
After a bit of waiting, the intruder decides he does not want to wait for the police and longer and attempts to slip out through the garage, where he is met by Police. But it does not end there. The intruder manages to gain control of the police car, and speed away in it. The suspect eventually pulls the squad car over to a stop with the help of a negotiator and is arrested by police. He faces 6 criminal charges including theft, and fleeing from police. So, here's the big question: The decision the homeowner made, not to use force or his gun on the intruder was risky but in this case, it worked out.
