Join a "Galactic Hangout" for Google Science Fair 2014 Hangout On Air with +Sam Branson & +Virgin Galactic’s +William Pomerantz!
They'll answer the provocative question: “Why go to space?”
Come join our first “Field Trip Friday” Hangout On Air with GSF partner Virgin Galactic, the world’s first commercial spaceline.
Why is it worth spending time and money to go to space? What do we learn by going there? How can space exploration improve life here on Earth? What do future astronauts look forward to the most? Our guests will offer answers to these questions and more.
You’ll get the chance to meet +Sam Branson
, son of Virgin founder +Richard Branson
. Sam is an incredible adventurer: he spent months crossing 1,200 miles of the Arctic to raise awareness about climate change, and he attempted to break the trans-Atlantic sailing speed record. And he’s training to be on Virgin Galactic’s inaugural commercial spaceflight later this year.
You’ll also meet +William Pomerantz
, who is the Vice President for Special Projects for Virgin Galactic. He’s involved in sending research and educational projects and satellites up into space. He helped create and spent several years managing the $30 million Google Lunar +XPRIZE
, and he’s a graduate of the International Space University. (Did you even know there is a Space University?)
Sam and Will will be interviewed by +Gavin Ovsák
, former Google Science Fair finalist, and a frequent host for GSF Hangout On Air sessions last year.
This session will be produced in collaboration with Google Connected Classroom. If you're an educator with a classroom who wants to actually join the Hangout, sign up on the Connected Classrooms form at http://goo.gl/z9gHfV #VirtualFieldTrips
Under any circumstances, post your questions for Sam and Will, then come watch live on Field Trip Friday!
