Crowdfunding: A Feminine Approach
I was at a networking event last week of women entrepreneurs called BLEND2day. The whole point of event was to share our business and support each other. As women, we have an inherent need to work in community, and help one another. We love sharing a good thing, and are terrific word of mouth marketers, and that is why women’s networking groups can be so powerful, an why women often make terrific network marketers… or at least why we are drawn to network marketing. There is something inherently fun for us about gathering together and sharing great information.
However, at this particular group, I noticed a disheartening trend. The women who were introducing themselves and their businesses seemed afraid to THINK BIG. I heard several women introduce themselves in a similar fashion to this: “Hi I am Sally Jones, and I am a Nurse Practitioner. I also sell Mary Kay, and I am here to support my friend Kelly who invited me. I have some awesome products here today that make great Christmas Presents.”
While we could go into detail about all of the things that are wrong with that intro from a marketing perspective, the bigger tragedy for me is that this woman is afraid to THINK BIG when it comes to her Mary Kay Business.
So What does this have to do with Crowdfunding? I believe that the notion of Crowdfunding is feminine at the core because it involves creating a community of supporters, who are willing to donate and share. The idea is simple, tell people what you want to accomplish, and ask for help in getting it done. But the execution isn’t necessarily that simple. Crowdfunding done well can produce some BIG results, beyond raising capital, but it’s not for every business, and it’s not for someone who just wants to sell a few Christmas gifts at a networking event.
I am so interested in crowdfunding from a product launch standpoint! To me, it seems like a very feminine approach to word of mouth marketing, and a great way to launch a new business OR a new product within an existing business, and I cant wait to talk about it with Crowdfunding Expert, +James Fierce

===================About Jim Fierce
Jim was born in Cleveland OH on the same day as Elvis and David Bowie (Jan 8) but unfortunately was not gifted with any of their musical talent. At a young age Jim’s family moved to Caracas, Venezuela for a few years where he had the opportunity to become fluent in Spanish and learn first hand about Latino culture.
Jim has had a varied career, he worked for 8 years as a quality supervisor with 3M and for a few years after that in the medical device field. A layoff, plant shutdown, and the desire to segue away from the corporate world prompted him to explore the world of entrepreneurship. In the process he discovered his passion for helping entrepreneurs achieve their dream and The Innovation Coach was born. Jim specializes in helping people sort through all of the low cost technology that’s now available and use it in a way that works for his clients Connect with Guest:
