Someone posted a link to an article about "8 Times Law-Abiding Citizens Saved Lives With an AR-15"... and I just had to ask.

Only 8 times? 8 incidents is not really that many, statistically compared to the number of times someone used an AR-15 or similar style rifle in a mass shooting with the intent to kill.

Whereas these nice stories are indeed good examples of "heroes with guns" stopping "bad guys with guns" the overall numbers don't support this being a good solution. Taken overall, more guns equals more deaths.

In areas of the US where it's more difficult to get these weapons, there is a much lower incidence of mass shootings.

During the decade when certain weapons like these were banned, there was a much lower incidence of mass shootings.

I understand that this might seem counter intuitive. But the idea that we need more good guys (and gals) with guns to save us from the bad guys with guns is a myth.

I sincerely hope this helps.
