Out of the 70,000 pine trees along a two kilometre stretch of sea coast only one lone tree survived the mighty waves of 2011 Tsunami.

Google Classic Maps Killed
#googlemaps

I noticed now that the following link to get the Google Classic Maps is no longer working;
https://maps.google.com/maps?output=classic&dg=opt

Clicking on the link redirects me to;
https://www.google.com/maps/@?dg=opt&newdg=1

The newly opened page displays a message that;
"You're in Lite mode" and it also gives a link to "Switch back to full Maps".

Clicking on the link switches the Map to full mode where following message is displayed;
"You're using full Google Maps" and it also gives a link "Switch to Lite mode"

It seems Google has finally killed the 10+ years old Classic Maps.

RIP Classic Maps. I loved you and will miss you.

Thanks! We love to travel with Google Street View but with the demise of Classic Maps, it's like being trussed up like Houdini.

Strange Custom of Baby Jumping
#strange

The World is full of many odd traditions, however the festival of "Baby Jumping" in the small village of Castrillo de Murcia near Burgos, Spain is perhaps one of the most strangest.

Magical Floating Water Taps Around The World
#strange   #magical

Magical Floating Water Taps are Public Art/Fountains which appear to be hanging freely in the air, have no apparent plumbing, yet deliver a constant stream of water.

Guess how these things work? Also have a look at the collection in my blog "Travelogue Of An Armchair Traveller".

World's Largest Natural Arch Bridge
#geology   #googleearth  #china

An amazingly large natural arch bridge found through Google Earth. With a span of 400 feet (70 metres) it is larger by about 110 feet (33.6 metres) than the famous "Landscape Arch" in Arches National Park, Utah, USA, which till recently was considered as the largest natural arch bridge.

Rock Garden, Chandigarh - A Garden Built Clandestinely By One Man
#art

The Rock Garden at Chandigarh, India, is unique in the sense that it was clandestinely created by one man, in a reserved jungle land, over a period of 18 years, before it was discovered by the authorities. By the time of its discovery it had grown to a size of about 12-acre (49,000 sq. metres) and had a vast collections of statues and figurines built from scrap and pilfered material.

Giant Hydra Headed Dragon Clock
#unique

A unique clock which is like a giant cuckoo clock but with a difference. There are no needle hands and instead of Cuckoo bird coming out at every hour, 6 giant animated roaring heads of a dragon emerge out of the sliding front windows, along with two giant claws which crush the front railings. A large waving tail also appears from a circular skylight above the windows.
