I presume this image is trying to say "Android is more powerful and capable, iOS is more cuddly and less intimidating, but underneath it all they're both irresponsible alcoholics who only occasionally do the right thing"...

What do you do to pass a long weekend when you have doctor's orders to get up and walk around a bit every thirty minutes? Obviously you make crescenza. Lots of fifteen to thirty minute waits...

Crescenza is a soft cheese from the North of Italy, where +Teresa Manco is from; she misses it, and after making this batch, I can see why (even if it's apparently a little too firm). It's like Philadelphia, only better. This large round took two litres of milk and about an hour's effort over the course of the day to make... and the best bit is that it's ready to eat a day later.

A couple of years ago, I designed a little solo board game about the French resistance in WWII; now some enterprising chaps from Austria have finished a pretty excellent Android version, using Ilya Baranovsky's stellar graphic redesign!

I highly recommend checking their work out - but then, I would say that. ;-)

Over the last month, we've been making "duck prosciutto" - duck breast cured and dried in the same manner as prosciutto crudo. While it's a long time to wait for 100g of food, it's totally worth it.

Flavour: basically, concentrated duck. Which is awesome!

First home dry-curing attempt: pancetta! It turned out OK, although I think I'll use a bit more salt next time for extra flavour. Teresa was happy with it, which is the most important part.

I actually started this off months ago, but it turns out that it takes a long time to make dry-cured meats! I also actually finished it a week or two ago, but it took me this long to get around to uploading pictures from my camera...

(I didn't cut it in half just for kicks, half of it went straight in the freezer.)
