Being happy with who you are and where you are in life.
Love V.
very nice post jake! thanks.
13.  They don't waste time reading stupid motivational posters.
ya i agree with this post jake
No u define success from John Wooden's pyramid of success
I need to be more successful & adopt these 12 things
each of these 12 are signs of healthy boundries and they all take practice... for me practice never is perfect, however, it is permanent
Amy Pg
who are the "right people?"
They surrond themselves with healthy people and detach from those who are not... its up to the individual
If practice makes perfect, and no body is perfect, what's the point of practicing?  ^ - ^
practice never makes perfect.... only permanent
be a good person thats make u a successful man/women in your life.....
Fern love your post. Can tell you know truth
Thank you so very much... that is so kind....
..Or maybe we all have different definitions of what "perfect" is. :)
Being able to be at peace with yourself truly at the end of every day.
They are goals that are: Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Relevant-Time bound.

Good post~thanks
i know many successful people that are a little on the off side of this list sooo......thats a stereotype +EpicFail
Emotional intelligence is a great start. Even though you can generalize these things it is up to the individual to apply these concepts at their own personal level of functionality.
Don't worry its not make you troubled ...
13. They buy Hawaiian islands just because they feel like it.

gotta find the "right" people to spend time with!
I guess I'm a "successful person" or at least I'm GOING to be one ;D
It may be listed as 11 but I wonder whether "they spend time with the right people" should be higher on the list
Success: Being happy with your level of achievement in life..
Small continuous improvement, Love this, and it's part of my religion too.
Jake, love it. Thank you. I'm sharing it, hope you don't mind.
It is completely arbitrary to think that some people are succesful, becuase you can have success at your job while having bad relations with your family or viceversa. Society sells us a picture of a perfect human being that non of us are. It seems so idealistic, so amateur to think that it is in fact possible to be perfect. Instead of following all these 12 nonsense rules. People, you just need to be positive and work as hard as you can for what ever you want. Success is measured by oneself and nothing more, the most important thing you can do is to have no regrets, by giving all of yourself, period.
Success does not mean money, for sure. There are many wealthy people who are unhappy.

Success means something different for everyone. For a person who is a terminal cancer patient or undergoing major surgery, waking up in the morning could be considered success.

For someone about to lose their job, finding a new one is success.

The basis is that you apply these principles to be successful in whatever it is you are trying to achieve.
A positive outlook goes a long way. Nice post!
I like #2... i think it's right for me... million thanks!
its good. But point 5 and 8 are contradicting in a way.
Yes is true jake... The success not only for money,
But when you marry and born the baby so this can be success for mother.. And success for the husband to hehee...
same goals but different approaches. Every thing revolve around the way "YOU" think or perceive.
DARN! i so wanna be successful right now! :)))
Being able 2 do wat we want.
Being hated and reviled by evil people.
It's also good if you spend time with wrong people; you'll know the answers of all the why's...
I discussed this post with 1 person in a hangout.
To me, success is happiness. If you're happy, and you're happy with what you're doing even if you don't have a lot of cash, then THAT'S success. Happiness is hard to achieve for many people. If you're RICH, yet you're unhappy.....the money doesn't really matter at that point....understand?
Thanks for the piece of advise
I've noted that most successful people are doing what they love.
Money is a great compensation no doubt, but it is definitely not something that can make you happy.
Agree people read mine and comment mine I'm Jessica mcgarvey
S : Specific
M : Measurable
A : Attainable
R : Realistic
T : Timely
They probably don't spend time on social networks either.
Not money nor fame. Being happy with your life & learning everyday defines success for me.
Picturing who you want to be and being that person.
I am agree with Sami Elmurr...nice...
How very true...although I do struggle with #2...I suppose everyone has a weakness!
+David Robertson Why does everyone equate success with money? That is why I asked "how do you define it."
It is different for everyone.
not all people are sucessful ... sucks for them huh !
Success is only as great as you make it to be all depends on how you measure it......
W = Wisdom
 I = Enters IN by
S = Seeing by
E = Echoes by
L = Listening by using
Y = Your brain & all five functions  = WISDOM
What about luck? Oh sorry, this is the American dream...
For me, success is primarily about love. How many lives do I touch with mine? How many hearts? Who has been changed by my existence in a positive way? I hope that people judge me as a good person and that if I died tomorrow that there would be great mourning.
When you die, if you make it to heaven then thats success.
welcome to the world of N kumar

Satisfaction is success.  Are you satisfied?
for me success  is   what i have succeed in my life in everyones life
Success is when you're still moving on while others have given up.
To me success is always giving 100% in everything you do and being able to share the knowledge you have with others that need or want to hear it.  Sometimes the biggest success we can achieve is getting out of bed each day to work hard--"Some people dream of success, while other wake up each day and work hard at it" by Anonymous. :)
By the way, I love what Jessica wrote above--that is the PERFECT definition of Success--beautifully said :)
life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you are going to get .
waking up every morning with a roof over my head, a job to go to and being able to be truly happy and comfortable with who i am.
well succsessful peope show me up so i dont like them
ehhhh i dont care... sucsessful people show me and you up so we are on the same page.
No two people are alike, each successful person creates their own template, yes one take take inspiration from the success stories.
Working outside of comfort zones is very important, so never try to settle down in a job or a situation. Keep challenging yourself.
urghh easier said than done!! great post!
I like to think challenge and then having an understanding of our limitations. Where the S.M.A.R.T concept is just simple goal oriented lifestyle. People are thrown off because they can over estimate a goals attainability. But that is why you make a measurable aspect of your life. And even our failure can become an opportunity to greater understand how we can be successful and what that is. Its different for us all. We have many things to value.

Consistancy flavored with passion.
Success is good but in reality what makes you successful is the way you see life. Life is beautiful in every way wether you have money or not it all depends on how you measure and estimate what you have. Like the saying goes Beauty lies in the beholder so those success. After reading the post again :) success should not be a way to define our "S.M.A.R.T." We are all smart and successful in our own individual way.
thanks for giving me 12 points for a successful life!:)
+Jake Croston ,13- they hardly have time for families, relatives & the same sort of things, right?
success for me isn't about assets. It's whether I've done something to hurt another person in anyway. If I have not hurt another person, I consider that day a successful!
Finally get to first base with the girl your crazy about
I believe that all acquire a little bit of maintain a balance in life..;))
I know that!! but I choose to go a different way..:)
I dream BIG ...and i pursue it! Hmm,that's no.1....okay,long way to go! :-P
@David Wright Some times when you take your
mind out of a problem, the solution pop up.
I need this in a hi-res poster print as a reminder on my less than productive days. I think I'll make one when I get home from work. :)
OK.  Let's start at the beginning.  There is an assumption that we all have a common understanding of what successful means and what that looks like.  For example, many people can do all these things and still be miserable, unhappy, angry, or depressed.

For me, successful, means content, peaceful, happy, enjoying life, loving, caring.

Here is a short list I just made up based on the above:

Successful people:
Accept reality AS IT IS.
Love What Is.
Don't believe what they think.
Understand that all upset is based on delusion.
Don't care what anyone else thinks.
Don't take anything personally.

Can you add more?
the post isn't for everyone. take it or leave it, IT WORKS
the post isn't for everyone. take it or leave it, IT WORKS
Once i'm done procrastinating, I'm gonna read through all the points in this post and stop putting things off, starting tomorrow! Success here I come!
Success is working hard to increase the love and loyalty to my mate, increase the love, loyalty to my children, be a loyal friend and good neighbor, and make decisions to be around to continue to  do all the above for a lot longer.
Everyone perceives the world differently.
Be sure of that, coz success is here.
I hate to tell but the evidence is in that we are more irrational and emotional than we like to believe.
And thanks to all who defined what success meant for them individually.
Pretty sure 11. is the most important one, you can do every other one, and still not be successful.
At age 4 success is . . . . Not piddling in your pants.
At age 12 success is . . . Having friends.
At age 17 success is . . Having a driver's license.
At age 35 success is .. . ... ..having money.
At age 50 success is . . . Having money....
At age 70 success is . .. . Having a drivers license.
At age 75 success is . ... . Having friends.
At age 80 success is . . .. Not piddling in your pants.
I define success as enjoying a balanced and fulfilling life...
with the lessons, contents, and scenery constantly changing
while you grow along your journey of life.
Maintaining balance in life is probably the hardest step IMO
Now end every step with "when making love" and it makes a lot more sense hhhmm
Yes! I'm glad that I'm successful :)))
We do not listen to the NAY-Sayers At All Period.
After squinting I noticed "They make lists in large, legible fonts that are easy to read." didn't make the list.
True, I like it, it's just what I need to motivate my wife to not being afraid of going outside of her comfort zone
I don't know. Some very successful people made large, quantum leaps.
"12 things successful people do differently"... but clearly not all at the same time, and not all 12 in every successful person.
My successful life is my children and all that they do and my grandchildren and the happness i get knowing what they do in life and just helping them along the way when i can . My life has been a hard one but i would not give it up because i was her to see all the great things that are caming in to the world from my adult children and it makes me happy.
wow thats someing i need to try
#13 - They don't ever seem to spend their own money either.
Being successful is subjective. 12 rules do not define someones success.
Point 5 & 7 are bit contradictory...
great share! im gonna print it out and put in front of my desk.
Success is when you love complete the life you live.
Wen we cn give happiness to our family i.e. Success fr my life.
When your signature becomes autograph.....
Some of these may apply to some successful people (for varying definitions of "successful"), but not all.  Often, the only difference between success and failure is simply being in the right place at the right time.
It means different things to different people.
these are moreover the habits of Successful people
i am agree with you sherry heyl you are right
Why surround yourself with good people cause if your that successful they wouldn't need to show off
I once fucked a successful person. In the ass.
