But hey. It's super easy to change on computer. So that's handy to know. From now on when I'm on my phone, I'm never going to use the right category.

My favorite tribute to Alan Rickman I've seen it. It talks about the man, not the characters he played.

Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I've ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I'm pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn't have to do that. I know other people who've been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say "if you call Alan, it doesn't matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he's doing, he'll get back to you within a day".

People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.

If there's one thing I love about the Hangouts update, it's the option to not turn text into the most hideous set of emoticons on the planet.

(Was that always there? I feel like I've searched for that option before and never found it)

I've finished the body of Mayapple (uses nearly a whole skein of fingering weight!) and I'm waiting for more yarn for the border. This project is going on temporary hiatus while I move.

Since I needed a more travel-friendly project, I started New York Beauty (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/new-york-beauty) last night. I think this is going to be a perfect knit for traveling - simple enough to memorize, interesting enough to not be too boring. No stitch markers, scissors, tapestry needles, etc. are required. Just a circular needle and the two cakes of yarn.

Oooooh! Glad you got movers to do it for you. I've moved more than enough to know that it's better when someone else does the actual packing, and you can focus on the clean up and getting there.

So... as you guys can see, we have a new logo! The colors of it will change regularly, but the logo itself will stay the same.

So to kick it off... I did a spring-themed color to go with the Craft-a-long for this month. Hope everybody enjoys!

Since we have some sock knitters in the group I thought I'd share (in case you guys haven't heard of this)

Tour de sock is a speed sock knitting competition that basically involves knitting a pair of socks a week for 6 weeks. You can join a team and actually compete, or just join/register for the fun of it and be a cheerleader/spectator. It's $7.50 and you get 6 sock patterns out of it, plus discount codes from some of the sponsors.

Gah! I want to, but I still haven't finished sock one of pair two...and my schedule this week and next are nuts. This job thing is really cutting into my knitting time.

My graphic designer friend who made the logo is a huge Dr. Who fan, so I decided to repay her for her services with the INSULATE! hat. I used Berroco Inca Gold in Turquesa and Blanco. The tension is super wonky down at the bottom, because I still haven't really figured out how to hold yarn in my right hand, but it got better toward the top of the hat.  Granted, these pictures are from pre-blocking, which did help.

I gave it to her Monday night and she absolutely loved it, so woo!

Wait times are insane here. Waited 40 minutes for a brief conversation with the doctor. Overall my experience with the office staff has been the complete opposite of all the other reviews here. The actual doctoring experience is fine.

The food is decent, the service is terrible. I used to be a regular, but the service has been steadily declining over the past couple of months. It started out with parts of our order being forgotten, having to ask multiple times for my drink, drinks never getting refilled. Recently they bring out different parts of the meal at drastically different times - one person is almost done eating before the other gets food. The tables are never cleared and I've been asked to sit at a dirty table (as in, the dishes were still on it) - which is completely unacceptable. The last straw was we sat in the restaurant for 15 minutes without even being acknowledged. We got up, left, went to Huddle House and haven't looked back since. The food is generally pretty good. I like the burgers and the breakfast foods are all good. One other problem is that the menus are about 6 pages long with half the items crossed off in marker. It makes it hard to find what foods they actually have. I'd give them a chance again if they got their act together, but for now, you're best off getting better service just about anywhere else.

Overall a good experience. Very reasonable prices for the speeds. I always get the speed I pay for and have no problems with the service. Customer service is better than any other cable/internet company I've dealt with - very short hold times with a callback service. Generally speedy service if there is a problem.
