Jacob Wobbrock, Ph.D. is a technology professor and entrepreneur focused on interactive solutions that improve the user and customer experience.

Prof. Wobbrock is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington Information School (ranked #3) and, by courtesy, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (ranked #6). He teaches and does research in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI). His overarching research interest involves scientifically understanding people's interactions with computers and information, and improving those interactions through design and engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in HCI from Carnegie Mellon University, and B.S. and M.S. degrees from Stanford University in cognitive science and computer science, respectively.

Prof. Wobbrock is also a startup entrepreneur. From September 2012 - May 2015, he was the founding CEO of AnswerDash, a VC-backed SaaS company that enables online businesses to provide instant context-sensitive answers to their website visitors, reducing their customer support costs, increasing their sales, and giving them insights into their customers' needs. From May - December 2015, Prof. Wobbrock was AnswerDash's Chief Scientist. In December 2015, Prof. Wobbrock returned to his academic post but remained engaged with AnswerDash as its Chief Experience Officer (CXO) in an advisory role and as a Board Observer.

    B.S. degree: Cognitive science major drawing from psychology, philosophy, linguistics, and computer science. Completed a formal concentration in human-computer interaction. Did an honors thesis on the law and policy of autonomous software agents.
