Douchebags are at it again. Don't let them take away your freedom!

P.S. Vint Cerf, who works at Google and is spear-heading this campaign, is "the father of the internet". This is very important. As a global internet citizen, do your part! Don't let them take your freedom away!
Starting today, the world’s governments meet behind closed doors on the future of the Internet. Some governments want to increase censorship and regulate the web.

Tell them to keep it #freeandopen by signing the petition:

+Larry Page, +Sergey Brin & +Vic Gundotra I know you're busy, but you should make SOPA your #1 priority right now. Setup or barge into political meetings before it's too late. If it passes, Google is going to suffer big time - more so than by your few-days-of-absence. I'm afraid signing a petition/open-letter that no politician voting is going to read won't be enough!

+Richard Branson You may not be an American, but you know how important the internet that's free of censorship is to the world. You stand for fair and open business practices. While you do so much already for so many people, please find the time and use your political know-how to stop the madness that is SOPA. Most politicians that are voting on the bill have not read it! No one, especially Virgin, can let the internet be censored.

+Robert Scoble Please do your part: get the word out! You can't just sit back and let our country enact internet censorship, can you?

SOPA bill is being voted on by politicians who do not understand the bill's ramifications. In appears, that most have not even read it. We cannot let our Internet be ruined by a few very politically influencial people who run businesses (RIAA/MPAA) that are suffering because they refuse to adapt to a new market. Instead of adapting, they would rather censor the Internet. Instead of playing fair like everyone else does in an open economy, they try to change laws that benefit them and ruin everyone else.

Every American: Please do your part as a proud American. Call your congress before it's too late!:

Every non-America: Internet censorship in America is censorship in your country as well. Google, Twitter, Facebook are all American companies. Do you want them censored? Do not let this happen. Make everyone aware of this issue, especially your American friends.

Thank you for supporting freedom and a censor free Internet.

Android Overtakes iPhone

It finally happened. More Android apps were downloaded in the second quarter of 2011 than iOS (iPhone).

Android at the end of Q2 had a 44% market share in app downloads, iOS 31%.

Will this mean that Silicon Valley will finally wake up and stop blindly building iOS-only or iOS-first apps?

Not to mention that the install base for Android is a whopping 2.4-to-1 when compared to iOS.

Exciting times for Android. And job well done to +Sergey Brin , +Larry Page and +Andy Rubin and the rest of the Android team.

Now if someone could show us the monetization statistics for each platform...

Leaked gmail video shows the new design.

Cool features? Gmail will adapt based on browser size and overall gmail usage. Overall the UI improvements are really nice - makes it much more fluid. Less static webpage and more like a real app.

Is the transition to fluid app like behaviour the future of the web?

A legend has died. Steve Jobs passed away on October 5, 2011.

"Steve was among the greatest of American innovators — brave enough to think differently, bold enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to do it." said Barack Obama.

Unaired 1997 commerical narrated by Jobs says it all.
