Heh. The dark red blotch just South and West of the Southern end of the SF Bay in that graphic is the Santa Cruz Mountains and Almaden Ridge. The Almaden Ridge is home of the New Almaden Mine, currently inactive, which is one of the richest mercury deposits around and which was crucial to California's Gold Rush.
