NEW ACCIDENT
2016-10-11 Polar Airlines Antonov AN-26 (RA-26660) poss. damaged beyond repair in a off-airport landing during a snowstorm at Belaya Gora, Sakha, Russia. with 33 on board. No one was injured.

Whilst approaching Belya Gora in very low visibility conditions, the aircraft made an accidental off-airport landing ending on a frozen river. All 33 perons left the aircraft unhurt. Polar Air flight 203 was approaching the small airfield of Belaya Gora, when a snowstorm was closing in.

NEW INCIDENT
2016-10-11 Ecojet Avro RJ-85 (CP-2814) nosegear went off runway whilst doing a U-turn after landing on runway 32 at Riberalta, Brazil.
All 73 remained unhurt. Flight 8J 740 came from Trinidad, Bolivia.
Runway dimensions at Riberalta (SLRI) Airport: Lengh 1743 m (5718 ft.) x 30 m (98 ft.)

NEW INCIDENT
2016-10-08 Air Vanuatu DHC-6 Twin otter (YJ-RV10, built 1980) narrowly escaped tragedy after the elevator cable snapped on approach to Wlaha, Vanuatu with 20 on board.
Despite the damage, The aircraft landed safely.

Shortly before landing at Walaha, the elevator cable snapped. Despite the mishap, the pilots were able to land without further problems. The incident is under investigation. According to local media reports, the Twin Otter aircraft was less than a minute away from landing at Wahala grass strip, ...

NEW INCIDENT
2016-09-29 A Lufthansa Airbus A380 (D-AIMD) and a Boeing 777-300 operated by China Eastern Airlines (B-2025) clipped their wings in a ground collision at New York-JFK Intl Airport, NY , USA.

According to eye witnesses, the A380 (operating oflight LH 401 to Frankfurt) was pushing back out of POS 5 at JFK-Terminal 1, the its left wingtip hit the horizontal stabilizer of the smaller B777 causing major damage to the latter.

There were no reports about any injuries.

While the A380 was able to depart to Frankfurt the following day, the Boeing 777 remained grounded for repairs.

NEW INCIDENT
2016-09-24 Commutair DHC-82 'Dash 8 200' (N366PH) operating as United Express flight UA 4919 from Albany, NY to Washington Dulles experienced troubles with its nose undercarriage on final approach to runway 01R in darkness at Washington-Dulles-Intl Airport, VA.
The pilots discontinued at 20:58L the approach and circled south of the airport at 3000 ft . The aircraft made one fly by beside the tower to allow a visual inspection of the nosegear from the ground.
After about 70 minutes of unsucessful attempts to lower it, the pilots finally landed on runway 01R using only their maingear wheels. The nose dropped and dragged over the runway surface until the Dash 8 came to a safe stop.
Two of the 24 occupants were treated for minor injuries. Extent of damage to te aircraft is believed to be substantial.

2016-10-12 NATCA: Nigeria is in need of at least 600 air traffic controllers to ensure flight safety in its airspace.

Dangyang Davou, vice president, Nigeria Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), told the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos on Sunday, that the nation, however, currently had only half of that figure.

NEW INCIDENT
2016-10-12 Two Boeing 767 were involved in a ground collision around 16:30L at New York-Newark Liberty Intl Airport (EWR, KEWR), NJ, USA.

A United Airlines Boeing 767-300 (N670UA) and a Boeing 767-300 operated by Austrian Airlines (OE-LAE) both had to cancel their outbound flights after their winglets were seriously damaged in the collision.

It appears the United aircraft was being pushed back from its parking stand at Terminal B (POS 57) when its right wingtip hit the left winglet of the Austrian 767 (parked at POS 60, Concourse B-3).

This is the 2nd such event at Newark Airport within 24 hours following the incident between a United Boeing 777 and a Lufthansa Airbus A340 yesterday.

NEW INCIDENT
2016-10-09 a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-300 (9V-SYG, built 2001) received unknown damage when its tail hit the runway during take-off at Melbourne-International Airport, Australia.
Singapore Airlines flight SQ238 however, continued the climb-out and proceeded normally to Singapore where it landed safely about 7,5 h later.

At the time (11:46L) a violent storm with gusts of up to 120 km/h swept through the Melbourne Metropolitan Area causing huge property damage.
A lot of flight cancellations at Melbourne Airport was the result.

2016-09-28 Turkish Airlines flight TK 295, an Airbus A319 TC-JLP, flew towards dangerously terrain whilst doing a missed approach at Sochi Airport, Russia in bad weather conditions.

NEW INCIDENT
2016-09-27 Pskovavia Antonov AN-24 (RA-47697, built 1972) went beyond the end of the runway (2010 m) at Pskov (ULOO) in dense fog at 07:13L in the morning.
The aircraft ended on the grass about 50 meters beyond the paved runway safety area.
All 32 people on baord flight PWS 1936 from Moskow-Domodedovo Airport remained unhurt. Damage to the aircraft is limited if any.

NEW ACCIDENT
2016-09-24 Yeti Airlines BAe Jetstream 41 (9N-AIB) badly damaged when it overran the end of the runway at Bhairawa, Nepal. All 32 on board safe.
