I Think, I Write, I Create Visual Art...
Introduction
Once I was a corporate road warrior but these days I travel Arizona, New Mexico, California and the internet. My website blog documents my personal observations and commentary on life in the American West through the lens of my writing, visual art and videos. I am an Arizonan that keeps life simple but not stupid, a thinking, pragmatic and practical man. I tend to listen to different sides of issues and form an independent opinion...usually that means I'm contrarian.

Bragging rights
I've been clinically dead twice and live to tell about it.

+Patricia Armstrong I'm lucky in that I find places  which are a lot more interesting than you might expect. This is located off 7 Ave north of Camelback.

Appreciate that comment, I wanted a "distant memory" feel to it and you turned a phrase to suit it. Thanks!

Five reasons why Google Glass finally won me over
+Phoenix Business Journal by +Francine Hardaway

Interesting article by Arizona resident +Francine Hardaway about why she is a convert to +Google Glass worth the time reading I think. Perhaps I'm going through another one of those phases which I have been known to do as an early adopter of technology beginning in the seventies. So much of the technology we have today I could only dream of and wish was available when I was a kid, especially the internet and the information and communications that comes with it.

However I go through periods where I want to disconnect and just go for the real-world-right-in-front-of-me and experience purely the "human touch." This occurs usually around every seven years which fits into some psychological or Biblical categorical number I guess. During these periods technology becomes a mere appliance to be used to make everyday life easier. Right now I'm in one of those phases and that is why I'm not on Google+ or any social website for that matter very much these days. I publish my blog and that's about it and I suppose this phase will pass as others have in the past.

I'm content right now with my smartphone and tablet getting what information I need and doing most of my writing and photo editing. My laptop gets a workout in the morning and evenings for fundamental stuff, mostly dealing with email at beginning or end of day and a cursory review of news. I'm not ready for Google Glass, Samsung watches or any other next generation gadgets coming along right now. Am I a Luddite or a retro analog dude? I think not. I totally get why Dr. Hardaway has been won over and it's clear she has taken the time to look at the good and the bad and made a fair and even judgment.

Somehow I get the sense from other people (and I have posted on this topic before) that with all the economic, political and social disruption that is going on and the confusion that goes with it quite a few of us just need a rest. Technology improves our lives when it adds value  rather than when it is added value  and there is a huge difference. What I'm experiencing is not solely about withdrawing from technology but more about reducing stimulus and interaction in general just enough without becoming dull or uninteresting. A respite if you will to recharge.

In any case an interesting and good read from a very smart woman. In the meantime I’ll check back in later and there’s a chance I might be wearing Google Glass or maybe even a Samsung watch to match my other devices.

Thanks! haven't been around here much lately. This was a shoot from the hip followed by spur of the moment editing. (Like those analogies?) I've been working on processing some other stuff I want to take more time with.
