A less tendentious person might have written "by making change.."
Boycotts, sit-ins and other non-violent forms of protest are explicitly not the use of force. Reduction of overt racism in university life is change, not "change."
Please try to think about it. The proud, smug, contemptuous tone of your post is almost an archetypal expression of what is wrong with America today, imho. You are acting like the problem, not the solution.
