I find myself in a situation. I appreciate the fact that the Developer Edition of the Moto X can have the bootloader unlocked without voiding the warranty. I chose to customize through MotoMaker and chose a 32gb GSM Unlocked version (ideally the same as the developer version including cost $549). Also, the GSM Unlocked version is not a subsidized price, nor carrier branded, so ideally, there is no reason that this version should not be included in the warranty policy that is associated with the developer version. The main reason I chose the GSM Unlocked version as opposed to the developer version is because I wanted to customize the color of the device. The developer edition offers one color selection. I would like to request that you update your developer warranty/bootloader policy to include the Unlocked GSM version through MotoMaker.
I have been a loyal Google customer for some time, and have purchased every Nexus device that has been released. This is a reasonable request and I have full confidence in your company that you will see the logic outlined above and make the necessary adjustments to the existing policy.
