I recently bought into the whole DJI Phantom platform (little over a week ago). I haven't accessorized fully with all the goodies to make really great videos (FPV setup, gimbal for stabilization, etc.), but I'm having fun with just the Phantom/GoPro combo. #DJIPhantom   #GoPro

Not sure how many pictures of my perspective of sitting at a desk during the week I could tolerate before contemplating abandoning it all for the exciting life of a migrant fisherman in the tropics... I still want one.

Good analysis of what the particular circumstances of demands in this shutdown would really mean were they to be granted. Some choice quotes below, but the whole article is actually a very worthwhile read.

"What House Tea Party Republicans are demanding with this shutdown is nothing less than a line-item veto over the established laws of our nation."

"Just so, if you give the current legislature the power of deadlock, you’ve automatically given it to all future ones as well, conservative or liberal."

Think about that. Think about what that implies for the future. Think about it with a different arrangement of power. Think about it hard.

Government shutdown and deadlock will become the norm and our government will cease to function in any useful fashion."

"If you give the legislature both the power of the purse and the power of the Executive, then you’ve ipso facto destroyed the very checks and balances that keep our government from tyranny."

Only real complaint so far with iO7 is the folder structure. Multiple pages are a great, overdue addition; decreasing the amount of apps displayed per page from 16 to 9 is not. It looks absolutely ridiculous on the iPad's screen. A complete waste of space.

So we have an iPad Air now, and the iPad Mini. Two different names for a product that is now identical in appearance and internals except for the screen size. It's a clunky naming scheme; they should have just combined the two lines and gone with iPad 5 (now in 7.9 and 9.7 inch screens).

They are also keeping around the old Mini and the venerable iPad 2 to clutter up what was once a fairly clean, easy to follow product line up. Also, the increasingly archaic iPad 2 is still $399--the same price as the new Mini that has quadruple the screen resolution and far more processing power.

Weird decisions at Apple these days. Of course they're still raking in the money, but at least with Jobs their choices made some sort of sense. It's still the best tablet out there hardware and software wise, and I'm probably going with a 128GB Mini, but Apple seems to be getting a little sloppy lately.

So basically, I still want it, but I'm not as happy about it as I'd like to be. Where's my Touch ID?

What is inside has advanced greatly, but those white boxes look very similar to what a Macbook ships in now.

Great article on Apple's perceived lack of innovation. Offers a good perspective on historical advances from the original 1998 iMac, to the iPad, and how they impacted the tech world at large.

A pertinent quote: " Revolutions are hard; small but significant improvements are far easier. The all-in-one iMac, the MacBook Air, the iPod, the iPhone, and iPad all changed the way in which the entire industry created similar products.
Those were released at years-long intervals, not every year."

All the Breaking Bad references are just gravy on top of a very informative article.
