Always good to sit down with the dude who runs 21% of the Internet.
I sat down with Matt Mullenweg, the founder and CEO of WordPress' parent company, Automattic, for an extended interview in March, just ahead of the company's $160 million financing round a month later, which valued the company at $1.16 billion. (Apologies for posting this so long after the fact.) For a company that [...]

If you predicted the Oculus acquisition, Mergerize would like your input.
Facebook’s $2 billion purchase of Oculus VR, maker of the virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, came as a complete surprise to many in the tech world yesterday. Minor stockholders, who probably weren't thrilled by the after-hours drop in Facebook's share price, can’t control the company's acquisition strategy. But they’d likely [...]

More from my video interview with Steve Blank.
The corporate graveyard fills up quickly these days. Blackberry, Newsweek, Kodak, Blockbuster, Dell…once storied brands now routinely sell for a fraction of their heyday value. Steve Blank, four-time entrepreneur and author of The Four Steps To The [...]

An online video service, definitely worth checking out.
It was tough to pay attention to Nick Grouf as a video stream of bone-crushing skateboard wipeouts played about two feet from my face. Thankfully he soon switched to a surfing channel, which showed a film that followed a group of female surfers travelling across the South Pacific. It was [...]

Just read your Future of Shopping in Three Trends piece and wanted to say that I found it very interesting. Especially the Omni-channel portion that touched on the brick-and-mortar approach of e-commerce companies as physical retail stores attempt the opposite. Its showed me a in todays market a calculated combination of the two is necessary to succeed in the retail industry.

Chicagoans, you’ve made it. Now, after spin class, when you’re craving cold-pressed juice or wild-caught fish tacos, you can whip out your phone and request their delivery, on a whim, just like your coastal cousins in New York and San Francisco. (And Washington D.C. and Seattle.) Postmates, a local delivery service, [...]

Until a call from the principal or that rare parent-teacher conference, information on your child’s classroom behavior can be hard to come by. “How was school today?” might yield the occasional anecdote, but most kids clam up and move on. An application developed by San Francisco-based ClassDojo looks to solve this [...]
