When hosting a Hangout On Air, it’s important that you have the tools to create the best experience possible. This includes having the controls to adjust the audio and video levels of your participants so viewers can simply enjoy the show.
Today we’re rolling out the Control Room. Control Room allows the host to manage participants by adjusting their audio levels and hiding or revealing their video. You’ll find it in the sidebar of Hangouts On Air when it comes to your account in the next few days.
We hope this helps you deliver an even more professional broadcast to your audience. Give the Control Room app a try and let us know what you think!
With Hangouts On Air, you can take a group video call and broadcast it to the world. And we've seen everything from concerts to political debates to online classes share their conversations 'On Air.' What's been missing, however, is a way to interact with your live audience (vs. only the people onscreen). Not any more.
Today we're introducing Live Q&A for Hangouts On Air — the first of many features to help you engage with your viewers. If you’re hosting the broadcast, you'll now be able to:
- Solicit questions from up to a million concurrent viewers
- Select and answer questions live
- Timestamp the YouTube recording by marking questions as you answer them
If instead you're watching the Hangout On Air, you'll now be able to ask and vote on questions live, as well as replay the Q&A even after the broadcast is over.
We're rolling out Live Q&A over the next few days (fully on desktop, view-only on Android), so look for the new features the next time you start or watch a Hangout On Air. In the meantime, you can check out these examples to see how Live Q&A can enhance your broadcasts:

- Live Car Talk by +Scotty Kilmer: http://goo.gl/cMZtz4

Keep the feedback coming, and keep those broadcasts going!
Today we’re releasing an update to our Hangouts button for starting video calls from your site that includes:
- The ability to start Hangouts On Air and Hangout parties in addition to regular video calls.
- New features for apps, including the ability to run multiple apps, and to automatically launch apps for everyone that joins the call.
- A new visual style and markup that’s more consistent with other Google+ buttons (+1, Share, etc.) and enables features like multi-language support.
Please check out our new documentation here: https://developers.google.com/+/hangouts/button
Today we are releasing the Telephone APIs to the developer channel. These allow you to start and end phone calls and to send dial tones (press 1 for …). Because some telephone calls cost money your app will need to include an extra OAuth scope to use these APIs.
For more information see the documentation (link attached).
We look forward to seeing your use of these APIs and, as always, welcome feedback.
Although I would guess they significantly overestimate Jeremy Evans's production.
