"For three straight days and nights we schlepped from mini-mall to mini-mall and finally found a mattress at We-Pressure-U, a sofa at ShabbyNotChic, and a dresser on Craiglist from @creepyredneck."
We are still recovering from our sons’ move-in three years ago. Both attended the same college, so we had less of a logistical challenge that sweltering August weekend than other families. Our younger son was a freshman. Getting him … Continue reading →

November is the optimal time of year for college angst. Parents of first year college students have queries about their kids who are either not communicating at all (boys) or texting/skyping 25+ times a day about the untidy habits of … Continue reading →

Introduction
J.D. Rothman, a former instructor of remedial freshman composition, is an Emmy-winning television writer, children’s media producer, and lyricist. In 2008, she anonymously started theneuroticparent.com while on an eight-state college tour with her older son. The blog became a favorite of exhausted admissions officers and sanity-seeking parents across the country, and was previously excerpted in the anthology I’m Going to College -- Not You! (St. Martin’s Press). In 2012 the blog morphed into the LA Times Bestseller, "The Neurotic Parent's Guide to College Admissions." Rothman lives in Santa Monica with her husband and their schnoodle, waiting for infrequent texts from their two sons.
